Thanks Brian but I'm camera shy but maybe you could help since you post video clips.
I have some old VCR tapes of me playing with some old pals of mine from 15 years ago and they want copies and I also would like to post a "Then and Now" kind of thing on Youtube.
Do you know what it takes to convert VCR to DVD. Is there some kind of computer program where I can connect the VCR to my computer and convert it? |

Hi Dick...I have tried a few of those Video Capture devices you can buy for around 70 to 100 dollars...but I got tired of them not wanting to work properly on my Computer, maybe it's getting too old like me...So I went and bought a Sony VRD-MC5 Stand alone DVD Recorder to transfer all of my VHS and Hi-8 Video's...It does a beautiful job...I will be bringing it with me to the Dallas Show next month, if you want we could possibly transfer some of yours from VHS to DVD. Let me know...Take care. Brian |

Hi Rick,
After I started taking steel lessons in 1981,Carp is one of the first steel players I got to know. He blew me away back then and still has my deepest respect today as he never fails to amaze me the few times I find available to go see him play.
Maybe somewhere along the years I have stolen a lick or two from Carp but I really base my style more towards Emmons and Franklin.
I will be hangin around the Jamboree on Saturday so maybe we will run into each other then.
Tell Carp I said hello
Thanks for the compliments. |

Bent,
Thanks but there ain't no amp. It's just my Williams w/BL710's going direct to the recorder.
I tried using an amp and found it sounded better going direct which cuts out overtones, background noise, family violence etc. |

Folks, ya just gotta love DW, cause theres one thing he truly does, that I think is super. He's not afraid to throw in a whole bag of tricks & licks.
Keep up the good work Dick. PS: Ya stole a simple 10, 8, 6 quickie off me. Listen and you'll hear where it came in.
Nice job

Don,
You're too kind my friend.
Are you sure that one little lick is the only thing I stole from you?
Listen again cuz you had to miss something cuz none of my licks are mine.

Wow..I gotta learn this.
So...direct to what recorder? Computer and line in?
A standalone recorder?
How do you monitor it? Thru head phones? |

Bent,
The Yamaha AW4416 DAW is a 16 channel all in one portable recording sudio. You can recorder, master and burn CD's from this unit. It has monitor and headphone outputs and a nice assortment of onboard effects.
All you basically need is an intrument of some kind either plugged direct or mic'd and you're ready to go.
They were around $3k when they first came out but they are sold on Ebay every day for around $700-800.
I got mine for $750.00 and it was like brand new with not one scratch or problem

Wow, Dick, you're getting better every time I hear you. A great job on a beautiful country song; It's one of my all time favorites. Your playing really does justice to Bob Browning singing. When ever I hear him sing, I automatically see Jeff, backing him up. And I picture Dave Hartley doing one of his U-Tube Clips. Surely wish I could be there at The Dallas Jamboree in March, so as to meet many of the forumites, including you, Dick; Brian; Dave, and another of my favorite steel pickers, Mickey Adams. And, Brian, hurry up to Dick's and take some videos to share with we forumites. Can't hardly wait. Dick, keep up the fine work..Bernie _________________ 2007 Zum S-10; 1967 Sho-Bud [ D-10 ]; 85 S-10 Sierra; 1953 Multi-Kord [ 6 String- 4 pedals ] A Sho-Bro six String Resonator Guitar; Nashville 112 Amp; hilton Vol. Pedal |

Mickey,Larry and Terry,
Sorry for the slow response but I've had a sick Horse so I have been trying to get her better.
Mickey,
I went out to Decatur Airport yesterday and they now have a 2007 Cessna 172SP with the new Garmin G1000 Glass cockpit, leather interior and same style switches, fuses etc as the CJ2.
It smelled and looked just like the CJ2 only 300 KTS slower..lol. I'm going to get checked out in it next week.
Larry, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do making them. Thanks for the kind works.
Terry,
I'm at the bottom of the pile of good steel players around here so it only gets better as you go up!
Thank you too. |

I may have to rethink the lick stealing thing Dick.
Sounds real good from where I'm sitting.
