Here's a simple unison lick I repeatedly flog to within an inch of it's life.
Hit the strings in this order:
3rd string
1st string w/ knee raising a tone (unison note)
Release knee (while 1st and 3rd are both ringing)
4th string
5th string
Here's a variation:
3rd string
1st string
Engage knee, then release
4th string
5th string
Simple stuff, but useable. |

When you are playing a chord in the AB pedals position, engaging that 1st string pull will give you a cool major 7. Actually, you can use this pull for a I IV V progression, hitting the first string G# after striking each triad.
For example, play 8, 6, 5 on the 3rd fret (G). Let them ring while raising your 1st string. Then engage your AB pedals and play 8, 6, and 5 again (C) and repeat the above usage of the 1st string to give you a C maj 7. Then lower your E and come off your A pedal (D7) and let it ring while raising the 1st string. Once you try this, you'll see you it works and will adjust it to your taste.
If you are also raising your 2nd string (a common corresponding change), There is a nice transition from I to IV with this raise. For instance, go to the 3rd fret open (G) and strike strings 1 and 2 with the F# raised to G# and your Eb raised to E. As you slowly disengage your lever, drop your 2nd string a half tone. You'll have a nice G to G7 which will bring you into C.
I'm not the greatest instructor, so I hope the above explanations lead you at least in the right direction. _________________ Jackson Steel Guitars

I've got about 10 tabs for that on my web site. Two are on this page,
E9th - See one way to use the 1st string F# to G# and 2nd string Eb to E raises
E9th - Unison strings and high F# to G# Knee Lever

With pedals down, I'll engage the knee lever halfway to get a 7th...also, use 1, 4, and 5 together and engage...same thing as the PF lick in the chorus of "Small Town Southern Man" |
