In another thread about lowering your 6th string to F# or raising your 7th string to G# I mentioned a way that I'd been playing "Together Again" using pedal 1 the Brumley pedal where you raise your 7th string F# to G# and one of the Universal pedals which lowers your 7th string to F.

It works the same way (with your E's lowered) as you'd play it using your A pedal and the B to Bb(A#) knee lever. It's about making the 4 note walk down like Brumley did when the song (Together Again) went to the IV chord.

Instead of using the 3rd and 5th strings you'd use the 4th and 7th strings with the 4th lowered to D#. This works great if you have to play the song in lower keys as you do with some singers. In two of the bands I usually work with, the singers do it in the key of G so if you'd want to start the ride at the 3rd fret you'd have to go up the neck for the IV chord walk down. This way you can drop back to the 1st fret and play the ride like it's normally done.

I've just installed another change on my LKL which lowers my 7th string to F and when raising the F# to G# I can add that lever and get an F note that's right on.

Another good use is when I'm in a B6th mode with the E's lowered that lever gets me a nice II7 change without moving the bar.

Also when you're using your F lever with your A pedal you have a C# chord in the open position but that F# note is a sus4 right in the middle of the chord when you don't want it but adding that knee lever makes string 7 a unison with string 8 so you can strum the whole chord if needed.

I'm using it on the job for the first time this Thursday night but I've been experimenting with it at home and have found no problems yet with it on a lever. I tune my 2nd string to C# and have this change on the same lever which brings the 2nd string up to D#.

I remember on the copedant listings in Winnie Winston's book that Weldon Myrick was using a lever which raised his 4th string to F and lowered his 7th to F so this change has been around awhile.....JH in Va.
