Is Jody OK? He's a friend of this forum and we can count on this guy for a lot of historical info. Someone let us know.
(can't believe I actually miss this great nut!)

Jody and family are facing medical challenges currently, but he is posting intermittently between hospital visits... My prayers are with him.

Bobbe: He's also made a brief appearance in Jason Odd's thread: Music doth sooth and heal. He surely is busy but a good post will get a rise out of him any day. He's just too nice a fellow to ignore bait like that. And you are dead on in your description of him. I enjoy every word he writes and look forward to them !!

Regards, Paul

Jody sure is a treasure. And as I've expressed before, I'm praying for he, and his wife, and hoping everything will turn out alright.
Jody, I was born, and raised, in Pa. about 30 miles from Corning NY. Small world huh?

Yea, I was wondering that too. I was talking with Jody via email about twice a week. Last I heard he had several personal issues come up and said he would get back with me when he could. I sure hope everthing is OK for him and his family. I like Jody.

Hi Bobbe
Yeah,,,I'm still here darn it. I have been on and off my nut,,I mean Forum for a bit. Looks like the doctors have a contract out on me. They made me an offer I couldnt refuse..listen to them or its curtains.

I never liked curtain calls,,so I'll make them feel good and do what they say. I will be getting radiation,,,,thats a drag, but one advantage,,,,you can see me in the dark,,
I'm luminous,,,I glow at night.

My wife will be getting chemo therapy,,so we
together will be making some money for the doctors. I think they need the money.

I hope these doctors are good,,cause last week when I went to see the specialist..his secretary told me he was "practicing". I hope he has practiced enough to know what he is doing. Practice makes perfect.

You will have all these other clowns around here to keep you busy while I'm gone. But I'm
warning you all,,,I will be back.

I will not post for a while,(listen to that
applause)but I will return when the doctors finish the session. They get paid more than
scale.

Thanks for asking for me,,I thought you would never. Be well all of you,,and remember

You dont stop playing because you get old.
You get old because you stop playing.

So keep playing and stay away from the doctors if you can help it,,,,,,they are opinionated. take it from me
...

Goodbye for now..

Jody..

That would make me nervous too, I would hope that with what they charge they would have gotten it right before they work on people.

Hang in there Jody, We are all pulling for you and your family.

If you don't listen to the Doctor, We are going to send DR Smiley to visit you in full Dress, Shorts and all.

No one should miss Jody's post in No Peddlers/Fender Guitars and Jerry Byrd; it is a class act beyond compare. Each time he writes a column like that, he gives away another piece of his life for us to enjoy and ponder over. Those were the greatest of times so surely JC is one of the Greats in our Steel Guitar Legacy.

Maybe I ought to send him another bag of pecans.........

Jody-- We've never met, probably never will meet face on, but you and you're stories show a lot of character. GOOD character.

I'm sure you've heard the same kind of stuff from others but let me add my own little story of encouragement.

When my Mom was 70, she seemed to be having a very difficult time getting rid of the 'left-overs', if you know what I mean. You might say, she was full of sh@t. Well, we finally got her to go into the emergancy room (we had no 'family' doctor at the time.)

The interns checked her out and decided she was 'impacted' and were going to give us some pills and send her home. My brother-in-law, being a Minister who had done much good at that hospital, had a bit of 'clout' and called an old MD. The doctor came in around 2:30 AM and, disdaining the fancy gadgets, used just his hands to examine Mom on the sides and front of her abdomen.

After quite a lengthy exam (about 15 minutes), Dr. Klages said Mom had a mass growing in her colon and that it likely was cancer. He described the size and location and stated it could almost certainly be removed surgically.

The other doctors had done what we considered to be a good examination and had reached an understandable conclusion. That old Doc, though, insisted Mom be admitted and set up to see a surgeon. This was all on a Saturday night, Sunday morning.

Monday, a meeting with one of the better known surgeons was arranged. He didn't show up but had sent one of his young assistants and surgery was scheduled for the following Wednesday. Mom was scared. One of the few times I'd ever seen her really worried about herself.

Wednesday morning arrived, Mom was prep'd, and the great surgeon made his appearance. Without seeing my mother, he decided that, at 70, she was too old. "Wouldn't survive the trauma" and "would likely die a 'natural' death befor the cancer got her, anyway".

Let me tell you, Jody, I was PI$$ED!!! I'm just a little guy but after expressing my plans for his immediate future, the surgeon decided to, at least, "go in and take a look". That afternoon, Mom went under the knife. The mass was precisely as Dr. Klages had described, and was removed along with some of Mom's colon. That was when she was 70.

Mom just turned 100 last December. She had to have another similar operation 6 years after the first but they still retained enough that she dosen't need a colestomy bag.

She's had a tough life, sometimes, and has missed out on many things. Mom has surprised doctors (and others, including herself) over these past years with her stamina and resolve.

I sense much of that same personal character within you. Your posts show a great deal of personal strength and will. You've been through some good times and bad. I don't believe your story - or your stories - are close to being finished, just yet. Mom and I, along with countless other folks, are thinking good things and offering sincere prayers for you, Jody, and for your wife. We feel you WILL come out of this time in good health and good spirits and with the certainty that you both matter and do, indeed, make a positive contribution to this world.

My posts are nearly as long as are yours. Get well and back on the Forum so we can have a contest. Thanks, Jody. --Everett

Me too, Everett !! That was very considerate of you. A doctor told me years ago, after an exam, that I ought to live to be a 120. Actually, that scared me at the time but I've gotten over it. I think God may surprize me any time now but I'm OK with it thanks to a lot of nice folks like you, and Gene, and Jody and Jason, and the Forum !!

Best Regards, Paul
