I've changed my name on the Forum from Alan F. Brookes to Alan Brookes. No-one else uses his middle initial, so neither should I. It was never my intention to do so. Embarassed

I only mention this in case anyone does a search for something I've posted and fails to find me. Very Happy

Well, not being a maiden, the nearest I have is my mother's maiden name, which was Brasenell.

I never wanted to lose another pasword, so never bothered.
Though like you it was unintentionally used.

And the initial OCCASIONALLY gets people to
not invert David and Donald.

Why so many think my 1st name is Donald
I will never understand.

Alan; slight correction! You see that I use my middle initial because I HAVE TO according to b0b! There is already a "Jim Harrison" on the Forum so, since we must all use an exclusive name, I must use my middle initial, although I'd rather not! Regards,Jim Harrison

I know that one!
Goes something like this....
Salesman: What is your last name?
Me: James
SalesMAN: No, your last name.
Me: that is my last name. no one names a girl James.
SalesMAN: oh. how did you spell your last name?
[Insert phone click here]or [sound of me leaving store].
IF I am in a really crazy mood, I'll say "my daddy's name was James, but mine is not." [truth] I'll have them so confused they hang up.

Nothing like good customer service. Very Happy Laughing

Don't mean to hijack...Al, I think "Big Al" would be a cool nickname!!

Maybe I should change my name to Alan F. Brookes, since it's no longer taken! I'm tired of people calling me Bill.

I am glad we do not have to use all our names, Mom and dad gave me a long one.
Ernest Benard Marvin Cawby Junior.
We messed up and made our poor son the 3rd. Looking back I may not have done that.

Even people I've known for years will call me Walter once in a while ... to which I usually say "no it's Walters with an "s"" which stops them cold.

Alan,You may not be a maiden,But I bet you can play Maiden's prayer.I have had trouble all my life with people spelling my name wrong,For some reason they will spell Davison, instead of DavIDson, maybe it's my THICK southern accent.DYKBC.

That would certainly confuse things. Maybe I should change my name to Sol Hoopii. It would be sure to get people's attention. Very Happy

That's why I've always used the F professionally. My uncle was Alan B Brookes, and my cousin Alan H Brookes, plus I've come across several other Alan Brookeses. I've even come across two Alan F. Brookeses. But I got the impression from some of the commendts on the Forum that some of the members thought it was pompous, which was never the intention. Rolling Eyes

Sometimes, when I sign my name. I say...yes, but not the rich one, and no I'm no kin to Henry (I wish) Did have a lot of fun at the Ford 100th aniv. in the corporate tent where the new Mustang was unveiled, everyone did a doubletake at my nametag ( I was a guest with Mustang Monthly Magazine )
