Looking at Rondo Music web site shows a black SX lap in stock for $109. The cover looks different from the $99 model. Everything else looks the same.
So if you missed getting a SX lap, now is your chance.

Now there's a great idea. Immediate recognition of tuning by body color (and my natural isn't scheduled to arrive untl tomorrow). What to do, what to do? |

It looks like the cover on the black guitar is made into one piece that also attaches the vol/tone control....bad idea. Now you cannot remove the cover if you like to dampen strings with your palm and play closer to the bridge.
These Chinese guitar players...... |

I wonder if the black model is stained or possibly gloss painted. These things are OK the way they are but they are also ripe for customization. I sure hope everyone posts pics of their custom paint job, pickups, palm levers, guards, toggle levers and 7 string conversions so we can all see them. Heck, this thing has plenty of room for 8 strings.

Seeing these guitars always makes me wonder if there are now kids in Mongolia busy using them to create music that is strange and marvelous and new. |

Looks like you'd have to take the knobs off to remove the bridge cover, to change the strings
And this model also has the 4th dot of the 3rd octave off by one fret. They did add an SX logo on this bridge cover, it does look slicker, but...
None of this is all that critical, but it makes you wonder how they're designing these, or who, or..
BTW - Did ya'll notice the Squareneck Resonator they have for $160? Made of "Curly Malapoka" wood (?)

I bought a couple of the SX Strat copies and sent one to my brother in law down in Jamaica ...It's very humid down there, and he has had no problems with it at all ...The one I kept is still playing just fine also ...It's not a Fender, but it's not a bad copy at a fraction of the cost ....Jim |

I like the way the cover on the black one looks because it's more custom and is smaller. The downside is that it also covers the control cavity, which means that if you ever remove it you may have to add a cover plate under the volume and tone controls. The tone controls appear to be in a slightly different location as well.

This is an interesting shot. My natural SX has a cover that exposes the pickup as opposed to the natural in the photo that covers it. |
