I got a good deal from J.D. Newell and I think solid wood cabs sound better for the same price as recovering.

Jack, the amp companies usually use animal glue. I have found that regular contact cement works very well, and can be removed later as the cement is rubber and rarely dries completely out. I have had very good luck with contact cement. Give it a try. Put an even coat on the tolex and an even coat on the cabinet. Let cure about 20 minutes before applying the tolex to the cabinet. Also, have plenty of ventilation available, the stuff stinks and is flammable. Hope this helps. |

I built a new cabinet for my Nashville 112. I used a special Tolex glue that I bought from Antique Radio supply. I've built seats, rack cases and steel guitar cases with various glues and this is the best and easiest I've ever used. Ken Fox posted the info on this and I tried it on the new NV112 and won't use anything else now. www.tubesandmore.com
Here is a picture of my "Blondie" NV112.

I have a Bandit 65. I paid 75 dollars or the amp 25 years ago. Until recently it has been one sweet heart of an amp. I am having it repaired on the cheap by a friend. I am not real handy at stuff lke this. I lived in a house on a red dirt road. Because, I don't like rooms with no outside view and all the rooms were occupied and I was too cheap to cover the amp properly and dust it often enough the tolex is really looking poorly. especially around the reverb. Should I have it re-covered. Just cause it has been so good to me. _________________ "Oh what a tangled web we weave when we first begin to deceive" Someone Famous |
