I just called the Days Inn, close to the Sheraton Grand and they do not have any rooms available.

Are there any other hotels in the vicinity of the Sheraton Grand?
There are rooms available at the Sheraton for $200.+ a night.

Roger,
Try the red roof inn,
It is opposite the Harvey which was the previous venue for the jamboree.
I think it is about a ten or fifteen minute walk from the Sheraton, perhaps someone can comment.
See You at the show

Roger,
The Red Roof Inn on Esters Blvd. have rooms at a very reasonable price. Situated behind Denny's right across from the Harvey. Just a short walk from the Westin.

Thanks Billy & Allan. I now have a reservation at The Red Roof Inn.
The reservations clerk confirmed that it's about a 10 minute walk to the Sheraton.

Maybe TSGA can have the shuttle come by the Red Roof Inn too, like they had set up for the Days Inn.

I was going to use the Days Inn airport shuttle to their hotel, and the TSGA shuttle to Sheraton, so as to avoid transport charges and save me some bucks.

I'll have to find out if Red Roof has an airport shuttle. If not, taxi (If I get to attend).

There is a bunch of hotels in that area. I went to MapQuest and pulled up a map of the area. Then I searched for hotels in the vicinity. Bunches of them. There's a Holiday Inn Express, Fairfield Inn (by Marriott), LaQuinta Inn, Hawthorn Suites, Homestead Suites, a Ramada, Quality Inn, and others. Lot's of choices within a half mile. Many have airport shuttles that will also take you short distances.

Hope y'all have a great time. I won't be able to get out there this year.

Ken

Billy M. Red Roof are doing some great deals on their Nashville hotel. I know you are heading down there after the Dallas show - I'm doing it the other way round. $45 a night which is soooo cheap compared to UK prices.

I'm passing on the show this year. I also wonder how many of the Austin folks will be tied up with SXSW.

Roger..I guess you are all set now..I understand there is a LAQUINTA..nearby..as well..the Red Roof in on the other side of Denny's..(as I remember)..which if you have a strong arm..you could throw a baseball to the Sheraton..it can't be more than..200 yards over there..but its an easy walk..and NOT 10 minutes.. unless you stop at Denny's for breakfast on the way... Cheers

Hello Richard,

I'm only going by the information that the lady reservations clerk at the Red Roof Motel gave me. I'm sure it was an estimation on her part. I'm just glad she didn't say the Sherton is over yonder.??Smile

I had two rooms reserved at the Days Inn that I'm going to cancel. I was on the waiting list and got a call from the Sheraton. They had a room available so I switched. If anyone wants a room at the Days Inn let me know before I cancel.

How about some phone numbers for these places. I can't book online because I do not have a credit card.

There are phone numbers under all the hotel listings on that Google Map I linked. Also, at the bottom of the map, you can click on "Next" for additional close hotels/motels.

Okay, the Sheraton and Days Inn are both full up, so TSGA Prez Albert Talley has arranged for the Red Roof Inn to handle any more TSGA Jamboree attendees.

The Red Roof is right next door to Denny's, just across the highway from the Sheraton. Red Roof will have a shuttle available for attendees to make the very short (actually very walkable) trip to the Sheraton.

The TSGA rates are excellent, and to get them you MUST mention the TSGA Jamboree when booking your room. The rates are: Single 49.99 (plus tax, natch) per night; Double 54.99; Business King (has refrig and microwave) 61.99.

I got a room at Holiday Inn Express (formerly Harvey Suites) a couple of weeks ago, and they gave me the TSGA rate on my room. It's just across the street from the event.
