I was listening to a couple of Buddy's CDs, during a walk, and IMO, there is none better on the psg. Buddy has quite a few CDs out there, and I may be missing a couple, but it occurred to me that this is a great way to pick up on a lot of Buddy's "licks" and stylings especially for newbies or anyone else. This is the guy, IMO, that got the psg in high gear, and if I remember correctly, Ray Price once remarked words to the effect, "the best". I don't know of any other way to be inspired than to listen to a musician, get into his thought processes and do your own thing. All I'm saying is that he has a lot of CDs in different styles that IMO, has given a lot of us ideas, and "ain't" a bad way to get off to a good start.

Hello Charles,

A great post worthy of response. You are right on my friend. Buddy is the finest musician that any of us could listen to on pedal steel guitar or any instrument. Not only is he a fine musician, he is an extremely intelligent and kind man. Ray Charles, in the booklet that came with Ray's "the complete Country and Western recordings" box set, praise's Buddy's playing on his work with the comment," he's like he was just inside of me," and "I can just whisper, man, and he'll know what to play."

Buddy's treatment of the classic standards in his "Swing Series" CD's gave me a whole new listen and appreciation of another kind of music, that I was ignoring. Now I have others listen to those CD's, so they may also experiance the great steel guitarist and his music.

When one thinks of all the fabulous songs, artists, bands and shows we get to hear Buddy on, it is a musical adventure on an endless highway of sound passing through time. How fortunate we are to be alive and able to be part of the history that has been created by the "Maestro" Smile

Sincerely,

Bruce W Heffner
