I have quite a collection of Ernest Tubb and Texas Troubadours instrumental Lp albums from late fifties to the late sixties featuring Leon Rhodes on guitar and Buddy Charleton on steel.I believe Leon is still around Nashville, however,I haven't heard anything about Buddy Charleton in years.I'm sure someone out there knows. He's still around and still playing great! For some time, he's been giving lessons at Billy Cooper's steel store (the world's largest), in Orange, VA. He also plays jams and steel shows in the mid-Atlantic area occasionally. Gary Lee Gimble is a close personal friend of Buddy's, and he can give you a lot more detail if you like.

Buddy is living in Fredericksburg Va still with Kay Lee. Donnie is correct with what he says. Buddy is still very much in the game, just not traveling any longer. He is a fine person and a well respected steel player for sure.

I think Buddy Charlton with the great guitarist Leon Rhodes would be a strong attraction at one of the major steel shows. What they did decades ago was just amazing twin playing playing. Just a thought.

Some one ought to put a bug in Scotty's ear and likewise with Albert in Dallas. With Rhodes, Emmons, and Charlton on the same show that would be the event of the Century. It's a shame that it could not be recorded and released as a CD and even more important as a video. Guess I'm dreaming.

I talked to Kay Lee a couple years back and she told me Buddy just isn't into traveling. Must have been a result of his years with ET.

Buddy played a few tracks with the great guitarist Bill Kirchen on Bill's album "Have Love, Will Travel", released in the last few years.

I did a quick search and I'm having a hard time finding where I can get some of those instrumentals mentioned in the first post. I'm not sure if anything has been rereleased.

BTW... There are two good songs on you tube right now from an old ET show showing off Buddy and Leon.
