I have a Nashville 112 that i really like.
But i recieved the mod kit from Ken Fox today,I put them in tonight and it came alive.I cant belive the diffrence they made.I liked it so much that i ordered another Nashville 112 and it to will have the mods in it.Just for a back up.
If some of you have the Nashville 112 without the mods in it do yourself a big favor and get them in it.You wont be sorry!! Whoa!

Sorry, Dan, I tried the new chips and took them back out as I didn't like it. I couldn't find an EQ setting that I liked after the mod. I used it on two jobs after the chip replacement and on both jobs I was constantly changing the EQ trying to find my tone.

However, I bought the NV112 for it's sound (and the weight) not for modifying.

The mod on the 112 is so subtle you must have a good ear to notice the difference, that is the way I hear it.

Mine too has a much warmer sound with the chips in.I would guess some pickups might respond differently than others Smile

Mine feels more responsive with the mods. And my drops dont get as washed out as they usually do. More clarity is what I hear.
Feels more woody, like the way a hollow body guitar feels to me.

I find it warmer and cleaner and also the reverb seems to be better, before the mod about 4 on the reverb was all i coud take but now 5 or 6 with no problem, does that make any since?

Dan, I don't know about the volume level, but I set my NV112 input level at 4 and the Master at 5 or 6.

But, with the OPA2604 chips it was "cleaner" but also seemed "sterile" and I could never find the "sweet spot" for the EQ.

I'm also an electronics/computer tech and an ex amp tech so I probably take a different view of changes than a non-tech would. I don't view ALL changes or modifications as bad, just for my personal use this particular change was not needed for me.

Try setting the MID @ -5 and the sift @ 800hz.
That is the sweet spot for me.

Curt, I tried controls at many different points. My basic setting is 800 and -2 to -3 on the mid. It will be different with different guitars. My guitar is a Franklin with Lawrence 710 pickups.

Yes I do not play the 112 loud, it is set on 1 and Jack stoner said it is to loud have to use the volume pedal a lot to keep it quit enough.

I just installed this last week, and I noticed a big difference when I actually used the amp out on a gig... and I noticed the same thing on the reverb, using a higher setting than I previously did.... and what Curt said about gutting the mids and setting 800MHz on the EQ... all in all I was very pleased with the new tone and response of the NV 112 after Ken's mod!

As I just posted on another topic, the Fender Custom 15 Twin Reverb is my favorite amp... but I find the NV 112 perfect for those small venues, and after the mod I'll probably be using mine even more.
