Like last year, we are having people sign up in advance if they want to play at the jam. (March 1 and 2, same place as always, "El Arco Iris" restaurant, 5684 York Blvd in the Highland Park section of Los Angeles.)

This is the only fair way to insure that everybody who wants to play gets a chance to do so.

We have slots for 10 sign ups. Two players have already already signed up, one for Saturday and one for Sunday, so there are 9 slots left per day.

Certain major league players like David Wright (who has already confirmed that he will be there) will play both days, as will some players who come from out of town, and in some cases out of state. Locals must choose which day the want to play and contact me.

EVERYBODY IS INVITED TO COME AND WATCH AND LISTEN AND MEET ALL THE PLAYERS.

As always, admission is free. Everybody who participates does so strictly for the love of steeling and the joy of playing together.

Again, any players who want to participate, let me know so I can sign you up.

Anybody needing lodging, please contact me and I'll book a room at a nearby motel for you.

There are now 2 sign ups for Saturday, and 3 for Sunday.

The slots are filling up fast. Those who wish to play should sign up sooner rather than later.

Hi Mike,

Just before starting work (I work for the City of LA), I would like to say it was nice talking to you on the phone last night.
I am thrilled to go to the Pedal Steel Jam session. Thank you for your email. I might have a friend Pedal Steel player join in as a spectator.
I would like to ask you a question as I am really ignorant in this field:
Who are the authorities in Pedal Steel? and by style?.
Any showing up on Saturday?.
I remember a few years back when I used to go see Albert Lee (who is also resident of Agoura Hills in the Valley) for free, jamming with local players at the Cesarea restaurant, there was a young Pedal Steel player in his 30s, blond, glasses, short hair and an organ player. Both of which I havn't heard the like to this day.
The Steel player was literally amazing. His creativeness, precision, feeling and swing were in a league of their own. I remember having a nice talk with him about Physics as he was a Phd professor of Nuclear science at some university (I have a Phd in Remote Sensing)and he gave me his card which I unfortunately lost. Anyone knows who this man could be?.
Again Mike, thank you for the info, I' ll see you
in 2 days God willing.

Blessings,
Abel

Abel, there are 2 players I know of who double on steel and keyboards, one of whom is blond. Both these players will be there om Sunday.

There will also be 2 instruments wiht "for sale" signs on the,. Am Emmons Push Pull 10 string, and a Mullen 12 string with a univesal tuning. I will explain the differences between these 2 when we meet.

The man who most likely knows more about the pedal steel guitar and it's history and different players and different styles of music is our fellow forumite Herb Steiner, who unfortunately won't be attending. (He lives too far away.) Besides being one of our finest players, Herb is a great scholar who has made a serious study of the subject. I suggest you contact him with the kind of questions you are asking.

I know a little, but my knowledge pales in comparison to his.

Hi Mike,

I see that they are only 3 players on Saturday.
Does it mean that Sunday would be a better day for me to have the opportunity to see more Steel players?.

Regards,
Abel

Abel, there will be between 15 and 20 players both days, including some of the finest players in the state.

Santa Clarita is close enough for you come both days.
