I'm looking forward to seeing all my steelin' buddies at the Nov. show in Norwalk, Conn. The line-up of steelplayers, again, is outstanding, as usual. We,as the officers of the club, try to put on the greatest show in the northeast, and collectively, with the help of our member volunteers, will display an entertaining and informative showcase.

I'm really looking forward to the show this year. It's got a great lineup, inluding some super players that you don't get to hear very often, like Bob Hofnar, Jon Graboff, John Widgren, Dick Meis, and many others. If you're within traveling distance, this one's "strongly recommended". See ya there!

The PSGA show is just 2 weeks away. There have been some line-up changes. Gene Fields will not be with us due to continuing health problems and Barney Miller had to cancel due to transportation problems. However, we are glad to announce that Jess Hurt , from Toledo, Ohio, will play on the show. We are also pleased that PSGA members from as far away as Manchester, England and Mexico City will be in attendance. Looking forward to meeting forum members in Norwalk, Connecticut on Nov. 10th & 11th! |

November 1st is the deadline for reduced rate room reservations at the Doubletree Club Hotel in Norwalk, CT, for the PSGA show on Nov. 10th & 11th. The special PSGA room rate is $80.00 after Nov. 1st, the rate goes up considerably. More than 100 rooms are already booked. Phone the hotel at 203-853-3477 for reservations and mention Pedal Steel Guitar Association rate. Don't be left with no place to stay. The other facilities in the area charge higher rates. |

It's been confirmed that steel player John Widgren will be accompanied by the 7 piece western swing band, Western Caravan, on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 10th) at the PSGA show. The group is playing a wedding in Norwalk, CT that evening. The "Caravan" is the well-reheased band that plays the Rodeo Bar in NYC on a regular basis, twin fiddles and all! |

Why on earth did I have to move to this swamp infested Florida...........
On second thought I have tons of recorded cassette tapes of the PSGA jams from previous years, lets see, I can hear Emmons, Franklin, Rugg, Scotty, Bob Maickel & John DeMaille singing "4/5 Time" (you guys sang great back in 1989, Buddy Emmons played backup steel) (I still have that tape).
PS - Bob can you send me a hotel napkin, at least I can dry my tears for not be up there enjoying the excellent show you & the team puts on.

Ken:
We miss you up here. I'll send you a napkin if they have one. Doubletree gives out cookies to their guests, but I have yet to get a napkin. Then again, forget about the cookies, they are spoken for.
If you want to be with us, tune in Mike Gross's Swingin' West show on Fridays from 9pm until Midnight on WVOF.org it's as close as you can get without actually being here. Mike's been pluggin' the heck out of our show for many years, after all he is the M.C..Mike's choice of music includes lots of steel guitar. |

Bob - You & the gang have been at this for over 25 years, I know when I was attending the PSGA shows it seems they got better each year, (each time I attended the show was fabulous and totally enjoying). Next to Scotty's, the PSGA shows where filled with over 7 + hours of non stop steel, I never left my seat, unless nature was calling. The various area talent that got to perform where excellent. I have been to about 5 other steel show since I moved down to Florida and nothing tops the PSGA show up north. The steel guitar community owns the Association and the members who put in long hours to make it happen lots of gratitude, you guys handle it so professionally. Hopefully one year soon I'll get to attend the PSGA show. I'll be in tune to that radio show.
Also Richard Upright(Flushing) moved down to Broward County recently but I was told he's moving again to Texas. What ever happen to Dave MeGram and Mike Urisite (Davy Dixon's steel player). Tell Jim Hand I said hello.

Ken. Thanks for the kind words about the PSGA show. Many long hours go into preparation and next year's show (2002) is already in the works.
Mike Ursitti lives in Atlanta. He bought a used MSA but apparently is not very active. Dave Magram moved to Silicon Valley, California, many years ago and we've not heard from him since. Thanks for the update on Rich Upright. The country music scene (club work) that he was involved in, died up here several years ago which is a good reason for him to seek greener pastures. |

Hello Bob,
I bet this weekend will be a blast! Say hi to Dick Meis for me. I guess he and a friend are driving to NY from Denver. I'm sure that the show will go well since you and the PSGA team are pros from the many years of past experience.
