Well, another hard working band has been cleaned out by a$$holes in San Antonio. They were staying at a hotel across the street from the venue they were playing. And they had a trailer with the gear in it broken into and all their guitars, amps, merch, and a Carter Pedal steel was ripped off. They didn't get the drums. Probably didn't have room for the big cases.
This is always a problem when you get off from a gig and go to your room, usually the parking lot is full at 3:00AM, so you wind up parking in the dark, maybe on the street, and a trailer is just an invitation for theives to lurk and wait 'till you retire to your rooms. This really sucks! These guys are good friends of mine. You can view the gear stolen at www.elevenhundredsprings.com .
Some of these guitars are pretty unique. Maybe they will show up. I'm spreading word to forumites to be on the watch. Thanks! |

That sucks. I noticed there was a G&L ASAT (tele clone) in the collection, so I cross posted the URL to the Guitars by Leo discussion page as well.

I guess I'm different than most players. I never leave my Steel Guitars set up at a gig place overnight, even if it's a 2 nighter. That Steel always goes back home with me. Also, I'd take my Steel back inside the motel room with me instead of leaving it in the trailer overnight. I own (4) Steels. . . .3 Emmons & 1 Sho-Bud. I just seem to sleep better at night when I know where they are, especially my 66 P/P & my LeGrande III. Sorry about your loss, hope you get your Carter back.

I am very sorry to hear of the loss. I just received my custom built steel that took me from 1978 to 1983 to build. It was stolen January 17, 1987 from my station wagon in the parking lot of a club in N. Dartmouth Mass. Because I had my name carved on the top, two musician friends were able to relate it to my horrific loss. It was just returned to me on Oct. 11, 2001. It had been in a damp basement for several years, and it was damaged and a few parts were missing. I will keep an eye open in this neck of the woods for you. Regards, Manny Escobar. |
