If you have one of those nights when you can't fill the dance floor there are 4 artists that my band uses to get them up and they are : Charlie Pride,Merle Haggard and Gene Watson or our lady band mate will do a Patsy. After all these years we still get the request for "Paper Rosie" more than any other song.

Don, I see where not much has changed from the 70's.
Charley and Hag were tops then too. Paper Rosie brings back the memories. It is written by Canada's own Dallas Harmes

Who's playing steel for him these days? He's scheduled to be down here later this month and we plan on attending.

There is a good article on Gene in the current issue of No Depression, the one with John Fogerty on the cover.

We've been to a lot of weddings in the last year and mostly all have used a DJ for various reasons and after an hour of head-banging music and still no-one on the dance floor the DJ will find one of a possible 3 country tunes he has and usually it's Patsy or Charlie and bingo the dance floor is full which goes to show that even if the kids aren't coming ouit to the bars were country music is playing they still do appreciate the occasional country tune even if it just breaks the ice on the dance floor.
