Bernie, this picture is for you! That's when Bobbie got the ShoBud cross-over Baldwin model for about $900! I auditioned with it at the Silver Spur In Fairbanks Alaska, thanks to an old buddy, Alex Klick formerly of Wattsburgh PA (Lowville, really) arranged the audition. He was friends with Paul Harper the band leader! and through a mix up, Paul checked with guys in Nashville on how Seymour was and they told him he's never come to Alaska for that money. Imagine Harper's surprise when in walks Uncle Doug Seymour and not his sharp pickin' nephew, Bobbe!?? But he was a gentleman and a scholar
and he paid my expenses! True story so help me! I couldn't cut it at that time in my life. One tune after the other, no pause & I had to do all the intros! I just wasn't up to it then. But I never gave up! I auditioned with Dave Dighton years later in Iowa. (his son posts on here once in a while and is now playing steel!) Didn't get that gig either! Next try was in Cheyene WY with Aaron (don't recall the last name now, but his wife played bass, his son was on drums & he did guitar and keyboards, if I remember right, and was the front man. I later taped his singing on "You Can Be A Star" with Jim Ed Brown out of Nashville. I got that job.....my dream......and then found out I didn't want it!!!??? Talk about "crazy" Willie & Patsy have nothing on me!

Very Happy Rolling Eyes Wow, Uncle Doug; I didn't realize you had traveled all over the country with your Baldwin Cross-Over. During those years, when it was new, did it perform well for you? I'm surprised Bobbe allowed you to buy the guitar. Did you know the Moon forumite whom posts from Anchorage once in a while; he seems like a really nice person; I enjoyed his clip on Tilley's web page; and of course, yours, Doug. Thanks for your avatar photo; how young were you then. Did you start out in southern N.Y. when playing the steel guitar, Doug.?
Bernie.. Rolling Eyes Whoa! Very Happy
