Hi everyone. My last post was 'new beginner' and it was recommended to me to get hold of 'The Right Hand Alpha' but getting no response from Jeff and Fran's email address. Can anyone help? I live in Australia and don't really want to have to make an international phone call. The first 3 emails sent to jeffran@jeffran.com had just no response but now they are coming back undeliverable.
Cheers
Sandra

I recently spoke with Fran and ordered some things for her. She's a delight to work with and what she doesn't know about learning to play this thing isn't worth knowing. Jeff is gone now but before his passing, he had everything transferred over to DVD format

His delightful wife Fran can be found here: http://jeffran.com/aboutUs.php

While Jeff has passed on, I for one continue to learn from his life's work. I sure am glad I had the opportunity to buy many courses, attend a seminar and hear him play many times at Scotty's and at Lexington.

Good luck with it, Sandra. I'm sure Fran will have many lessons of value to you... and that yours will be the DVD format and not the VHS tapes I'm still using. Smile At least I was able to move the tracks tapes to CD's.

I got a stack of Jeff's videos and books about 3 feet high. Been viewing them as time allows. To me he is very much still here...

I only hope I could leave such a legacy...

I gotta tell ya that, after 12 years of Catholic school, nuns and all, when Jeff is giving instruction, I keep looking for the wooden ruler with the brass edge.... Smile

Sandra,

Get yourself over to ebay. Type in "Pedal Steel Guitar" in the search. There's a gang of Jeff Newman materials up for bid.

This has been discussed before, but please reconsider buying on ebay. You will not be helping Fran stay in business if you buy on ebay. Just my thought. Sad

That's a really good concept and I appreciate the great amount of thought that drives it. However, I can't help believe that the average buyer of steel guitar instructional material will probably be purchased by steel guitar afficiandos that are by definition, very likely members of this forum.

I really like Fran and have bought many hundreds of dollars worth of instruction from Jeffran over the years. I will continue to support her and the college as evidenced by my many posts to that effect. However, if the occaisional bargain should present itself, I question the depth of guilt one should be feeling.

Is this forum policy or merely a well intended sugesstion?

If she doesn't answer her e-mails, though, then she isn't helping herself stay in business. No sense a person in Australia having to spend a lot of money on an international phone call in this world of quick, easy e-commerce. Just my opinion. I'll second the eBay route.
