well,
i just my fessy in here black d-10 8+6 and want to change some things around on e9th side. right now it setup "emmons setup" but i lower my E's on my RKL
how do you disconnect the rods from the bell cranks and how do you take off the bell cranks. ok, all you fessy guy's help me out here.. love how this guitar playes.....

Paul, to remove the pull rod(s) you'll first have to completely unscrew the nylon tuning nut at the changer end; then, at the bell crank end, pull the pull rod back far enough to be able to turn the rod thru' 90 degrees so that the "L" bend can be pushed forwards (towards the changer end) thru' the bell crank and that should allow you to remove it and put it in a safe place ! (I'd suggest lightly turning the nylon tuner back onto it until you're ready to re-install it.)
To remove the bell crank(s) :- you'll have to slacken and probably remove the cap screw(s) at which point you may find the "jaws" of the bell crank have quite a tight grip on the cross shaft (axle). You'll have to devise your own method of persuading the jaws to let go ! (Again, if you've removed the cap screw, I'd suggest screwing it back in a few turns until it's ready to be re-installed in its' new position.)

The nylon nuts are quite tight on my guitar, and removing using the them using the little knurled wrench requires a lot of effort. So, I bought a 5mm socket for my 1/4" drive ratchet which I use with an extension. This makes the job easy and fast.

| I use a 1/4' hex driver (female) in a variable speed drill. It's quick, fast and makes changing set-ups a breeze...That said, engage the drill at a fairly low speed, or you stand a chance of melting the plastic nut. |
