I just received The Time Jumpers "Jumping Time" DVD today and I just have to say it is the finest collection of players and songs I have ever seen on a television screen. I laughed and I cried several times while viewing this DVD. The pure emotion that each member brings to the band is just incredible.

Most of all, Papa John's playing was superb and it was good to see him smile one more time.

If you don't have this DVD yet, do your self a big favor and order it ASAP. - JW

Jim I couldn't agree more. I am very grateful as just before we left St Louis back in Sept I went by and bought a copy from John at his booth.

I'm sure glad I did as we talked for a bit before I headed out the door for home. This DVD now has a " memory" attached to it as John and I were talking about the songs and his band mates who he always praised and put in a category above himself.

Thats who he was...

Last week I stumbled onto the "Woodsong old time radio hour" which was featuring the Time Jumpers. John's playing was scary good.
You can find it here, in their archives:

I listened to the CD set several times through this week while in the car. As I absorbed as much as possible, I was magically tranported to places in time that gave me that warm and fuzzy feeling. Of course, John's playing was perfect along with everyone's talent. The producer, Terry Choate is also a steel player as well as an industry exec (one who has great ears). For anyone here who is a member of NARAS, I encourage you to vote on either of the categories the Time Jumpers are in (I've listed them below)...

Category 38
Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals
(For established duos or groups with vocals. Singles or Tracks only.)
Proud Of The House We Built
Brooks & Dunn
[Arista Nashville]

How Long
Eagles
[Eagles Recording Co. II]

[Midas Records, Inc.]

Lucky Man
Montgomery Gentry
Track from: Some People Change
[Columbia Nashville]

Sweet Memories
The Time Jumpers
Track from: Jumpin' Time
[Crosswind]

Category 40
Best Country Instrumental Performance
(For solo, duo, group or collaborative performances, without vocals. Singles or Tracks only.)
Little Monk
Russ Barenberg
Track from: When At Last
[Compass Records]

Mucky The Duck
The Greencards
Track from: Viridian
[Dualtone Music Group]

Throttleneck
Brad Paisley
Track from: 5th Gear

I've watched the DVD twice on NPR. I will buy it for my collection. Such amazing talent. Everyone in that band is especially unique. My wish is that this band can get the international recognition they deserve. I would encourage everyone on this forum to buy the DVD and album for the obvious reason, John Hughey. There is priceless footage of him . I can guarantee as a result that you'll become fans of everyone else in this wonderful band.

Guys and gals...Be sure to click on John Steele's link and look at that site !!!! You have to look for #447...titled "Celebration of western swing with the Time Jumpers".. Also find the link to the video over on the right...
There is a good part talking to John Hughey and is really enjoyable !!! As allways...his playing is wonderful !! This video is pretty recent...John is playing his Zum-Steel.
I haven't explored this site, but looks like a heck og a lot of good music !!!
