| Ralph in full flower and maybe Wynn's greatest recording--along with Playboy and Above and Beyond. Can't hardly get 'em like that any more. If I want to hear that whiney stuff, I always reach for Ralph. |

 Hey, you Wynn Stewart and Ralph Mooney Fans ; I would bet money on this one; I have an album from yester year of Wynn Stewart's with this very number on it; next to Buck Owens, he was another of my idols of the Bakersfield era. Those were the days of good traditional C/W Music..Bernie

| I have a double LP of 40 of Wynn Stewart's songs. Two different cuts on 'Wishful Thinking". Wynn could have been a super star, but as Mooney once said, He just didn't want to play that much. So Mooney went with Waylon. Jody. |

Couldn't be nobody But "The Moon",and i'ev listened to this song seems like a 1000 times,,and never get tired of it,,this one and,"It's Such A Pretty World Today",and "Above And Beyond"are three that will never get old..Ralph sho does a fantistic job,no wonder Ole Waylon had a spot light just for him ( Ralph)......

| Great sound from Ralph & Wynn.The last time I seen wynn was a gig I did with him at Al Bruno's Night Club,The Blue Bayou in Bellflower,California about 7 months before he (Wynn) died. Apparently the session logs for this recording are missing.
The previous session in April of '59 featured his band the West Coast Playboys (Wynn (guitar, vocals), Cecil Bays (guitar), Carl West (steel), Tony Amico (drums) and Shirley Roy ‘Pete’ Ash (piano).. with a session bassist Bud Dooley.
This is the date where Wynn cut "Above And Beyond."
By September 1959 the recording crew was Wynn (guitar, vocals), Dale Norris (guitar), Ralph Mooney (steel), Bob Morris (bass), Pee Wee Adams (drums), Gordon Terry, (fiddle, guitar) and Pete Ash (piano).
Now that latter date featured a cut of Wishful think', however .. and here's the weird bit, most masters show a previous version of "Wishful' Thinkin'" was cut in mid '59, and that was the single.
Session crew and studio unknown.. I'd guess Ralph. |

Wynn recorded this with Ralph Mooney at Capitol, Oct 9 68 also Clarence White on guitar.Wynn was the greatest and purest
voice of all the Bakersfield singers.
Course that's my opinion. I sang 4 songs at the Nashville Nev In Vegas, it was the thrill of my life. Moon and Wynn in one room. The nicest man you would ever want to meet.

| Doc, that's not the '69 remake that he cut in late '68, different intro and on the late 60s cut Wynn uses a deeper vocal style.. also the tracks differ in length, the late 50s cut is around 20 seconds longer than the one cut with Clarence White, etc. |

Jason you are right, this cut was his first release
in 1960. It's still Ralph Mooney and Wynn. What treasures they both are to music. Wish we had some music like this today and someone would play it.

"She Didn't Color Daddy" It is absolutely a masterpiece.

Doc, another great Wynn S. gem! That pedal steel on his recordings, ALL of Wynn's recordings is downright marvelous. Those were some times of superb pedal steel
on recordings. I love the pedal steel on ANY recording
but those years were just magic.

Actually Doc, I gotta thankyou, I haven't listed to some of those late 60s cuts in ages, and now I'm going through them again.
The remakes and simply killer, the new songs, are sometimes a little overly sentimental, but damn.. Wynn was the heart of west coast country.. he made it count. |

It is my hearts desire to one day see Wynn in the Hall of Fame. Ralph is already recognized for who he is and what he has given to country music.Wynn Stewart deserves to be recognized. Ask somebody if they know who Wynn Stewart is and if they know anythinhg at all. "Its Such a Pretty World Today"
A ggod song not a great song. Wynn's world never got that pretty. He has a hundred songs better than that one and most people have never heard them. Well I guess I'm on my soapbox so I'll hush and pray the world will catch up to real music.

| I agree, Wynn was the Best, and never got the recoginition he should have, a terrifect voice and delivery of his songs , Ralph was the best too.Wynn had a lot of songs better than Pretty world today.in my opinion,long before pretty world. Chet |
