Excerpts of a review by John McClung aka Mr. Twang on July 23: "Next Sunday's (July 29) band at Cowboy Country (Long Beach) "Western Swing" night is The Lucky Stars. Real, authentic, great Western Swing band, right down to Jeremy Wakefields (who recently played with AATW) non-pedal triple neck Bigsby. They start @5pm. It'll be like hearing the Cherokee Cowboy's with Buddy Emmons. Heard the Chapped Cheeks band, real tight outfit doing classic C/W and western swing. Great group. I'm now a big fan. Steel player Memphis Slim is a great picker and a real comedian on stage. You gotta see his act. The music there on Sundays really is virtually all Western Swing, and some hard-core non-contemporary country, even on the breaks. Very cool!! It's a very casual hang, and they serve decent food too. Couple of nice pool tables, and 3 (actually 4) dance floors. Hope to see you all there. Mr. Twang"

Thanks Mr. Twang. I couldn't have said it better myself. Cathi Parson, Prez, SCWSMS
