If that's a Bud why the different fret markers? Also, mica Bud's are very rare as there were only one or two made. I think that one is a copy.

Ha-ha.....that's why it made me laugh. There's no way in the world this is a Sho~Bud. The only things "Sho~Bud" about that guitar are the decals and possibly the pickup.

It actually resembles an MCI, although I know it's not. I haven't a clue as to the brand.

That's the problem with decals - they can fool the uninitiated and the gullible.

The guitar probably has a worth to someone. Not sure who. If the seller is telling the truth then the poor guy has been ripped off.

The seller is being completely above board, IMO, and is posting corrections. One of those is mine and he responded quite well. We've all seen ebay guys who get all hostile when busted on their claims. Not this guy.
An interesting aside----how often do you see someone present ludicrous product info and then cover their asses with the claim "I don't know much about these things". You can present all sorts of fraud under the guise of 'ignorance'.
But then there are people who truly not experts and can only go on what others tell them. If they have integrity, then they have open minds and are ready to learn---to be informed by folks who know more on the subject than they do.
I think that's what this guy is.

Marrs! The guitar is an older Marrs, built by Duane Marrs in Madison, Tn.

Cool! I thought Marrs only made lacquer guitars. Looks like a good guitar, it just looks odd with the 'Bud decals.

Well then, I guess it is sort of a Sho-Bud--kinda/sorta, in a way.

Ernie Emmons!!!!!! Nice to hear from you. How's brother Buddy doing? Very Happy

Tommy, you sounded great last night.

Cheers!

Marrs - that would make sense. It doesn't look like a "garage job". Somebody who knew how to build pedal steels made it. The pickup looks like it could have come from Sho-Bud.

This could be a good deal for someone who is so left-handed that they need a lefty pedal steel. Like piano players, most left-handed steel players can adapt to the standard instrument. There aren't very many buyers in the world for left-handed pedal steels.

Whoever gets this guitar should remove the misleading decals for posterity.

Good call T.W.,

I remember that guitar being built by Duane over at his first shop on Sioux Terrace, actually an attached garage. It was around the time he built the first "Cat Can".

There are more! (believe it or not) To the best of my knowledge, there were (2) Mica Proto-types built back in either the late 60's or early 70's, when Sho-Bud was located on Broadway, downtown. (1) plain Black and (1) plain Brown. [meaning no border trim] One was built by Duane Marrs and one by Paul Franklin Sr. However, the powers to be at Sho-Bud did not agree with the idea that an aluminum-neck needed the solid-base of Mica under it to receive it's full benefit for sound and Sho-Bud rejected the idea as ill advised! I believe this is the way the story was told to me by Paul Sr. years ago!

This isn't a Sho-Bud machine head.

...but I guess this query has now been answered.
