A while back I played a gig with a very good boogie-woogie piano player. He was quick, very clean and could sing, I'm sure you know the type! Although I enjoyed the gig I felt I should have been able to play a fast boogie thing, like piano players play with their left hand. I've listen to Buddy playing Buddies Boogie (Great stuff) and few other things, but I have to admit I can't really find something neat that can be executed quickly. Any ideas folks?

I did tab out a simple progession that will do this for you using the C6th 6th pedal. It stays on the low strings so it has a pretty deep sound:

C6th - Scale in D with sample boogie

I later put these ideas into a song:

Click on Hit It

Thanks very much Howard, Terry and Curt. It's very gratifying to give something back to the steel community.

I stumbled over the above tab while trying to figure out part of Buddy's Boogie. Never did get that song all figured out! There's so msny positions to play from and so many pockets of notes with these tunings. This was a new one for me and it does get away from the normal steel guitar sounds people expect to hear.

Thanks for coming back on this Greg, You've certainly put a few hours into creating your site. It's very good of you to make so much information freely available to other steel players.

I know there are some really great players out there on the forum that could breeze this sort of thing. If you could just point me in the right direction I'd be most grateful.
