Anyone have any idea how to date my Pro 1? It's a model 6148, serial number 8044.

| My knowledge ends about 1974. Yours is later than that. My newest Shobud is a 1974, 6139 hot rod(now with 6 knees). Round-front, wide pedals, but no longer baskets and barrels. If you post a pic of the mechanicals, someone can help. |

If it has a gumby headstock, it's a long body.
Are the pedals smooth, or do they have grooves?
Either way, late '70's is my call. |

| Just for fun, I'm gonna take a guess. Mine has a round-front cab, and wide pedals. But it was about the last with these features. They have the same mechanicals. Mine is a most likely a 74 , so I'll guess, and say 1976. |

John Steele, as I know it, the molded plastic fretboard with the raised frets is refered to as the "dustcatcher" for obvious reasons. Look at the one pictured above closely, and you'll see.
And by the way, that fretboard is considered the most mathematically accurate fret board Shobud company ever achieved. John Coop patterns his replacement "boards" after the dustcather. |

Looks like I have the same year ? Bud, but mine dosent have the helper springs on the puller fingers & I have the wide pedals,,,close to the same Bud

Richard, yours is earlier. You've got wide pedals like mine. Of course, it could be as little as a couple of hours earlier.

I see on Marks Bud,,7th or 8th pic,,,you can see helper springs on the pullers.
I have the holes in the pullers but no springs. I also have the cross plate to anchor springs to the pullers. Anyone know where I could pick up these springs for my Bud? I would like to soften the pedals up a little. Ive tried all the other adjustments, but need a little more to really tweak my Buds pedals.

| McMaster Carr has a great spring selection. I just got some springs for my Fingertip from them. But you'll need one spring to measure all the dimensions. You'll need to know how many coils per inch, what gauge wire, the diameter of the coil, etc.. I just used a micrometer to measure one of the old springs. |
