I didn't see Smiley's earlier post that announced that he would be with Tommy Overstreet this past weekend, which included a stop at Midwest Country in Sandstone MN.

Saturday afternoon I didn't make the connection right away that the guy wearing the smiley face cap and buttons was Smiley Roberts from the forum.

Tommy, Smiley and the rest of the band put on a couple nice shows. Smiley's humor and banter with Tommy really added a lot to the fun of the show. We learned that Smiley is not only a talented steel player, but he is also a very talented musical nose player. As he said, "I can either pick it or blow it." Everyone in Tommy's band have a great sense of humor. The audience really enjoyed Smiley as well, he kept everyone entertained while they waited in line at the merchandise table.

The theater crew and band had dinner between shows at the local diner and Smiley asked me to say a few kind words about him on the forum. I don't think anything but kind words could be said. Tommy even said that Smiley has a big heart and is a wonderful person.

It was a pleasure meeting Smiley and hope our paths cross again someday.

Interestingly, if you check his profile it says "entertainer"... no mention of steel player. Now, i know why. Thanks for the post. I enjoyed reading it.

Smiley;
The next time you come to MN, let me know. I'll try to get out to see you. (At least for lunch or a lemonade. )
