Topic: E9 Extended Copedants Needed |

Hey Guys,
I've got a brother that is looking at wanting to goto an Extended E9 copedant. He'd like to have a full E9 with a lot of c6 feels. Trying to stay away from the Universal if possible.
Any copedant suggestions?

| Dan, how about just stickin with the basic E9 and engaging the E lever which will give you a B6 tuning. The first fret will give you a lot of the C6 sound without goin to an extended tuning. |

I understand what your are saying. I know right now on a ten string standard E9 you can get the B6 1,4,5 chord. It would be nice to get the changes on pedals 5, 6, 7 from the C6 side. I don't know I haven't taken the time to research it. I was hoping someone would have already done this.
Buddy had a uni-tuning but I have not been able to locate it.

Dan,
I would advise your brother to try a basic extended E9, and add pedals to suit his music, rather than copying C6 pulls for their own sake.
That said, here are some easy ways to sort of copy those pedals:
pedal 5: As b0b said, the most-used pull lowers your middle F# a half step. For me this works well on the same lever that lowers my 2 D# string. I even use a half stop at F (E#) and lower it all the way to E on that lever. But if you don't like half stops, you can get lots of use out of just the pull to E#.
pedal 6: All the notes that this pedal gives you are already available on standard E9 using the E lever. If you really want to hear the D# move down to D, you can add a lever to raise 9 D up to D#. Some guys put this change on the F lever. I prefer it on a lever that raises high F#.
pedal 7: This is easy using 6 G# -> ++A# on "pedal 0" to the left of the "A pedal".

Dan, how many pedals does he have to work with? That makes it easier for suggestions. If there's only two extra I'd definately use the one that lowers the 7th string F# to F and raises the 12th string E to F. My next choice would be raising the 5th string B to C# and the 6th string G# to A#.
I think it would be wise to have and additional lower on the lever which lowered the 4th & 8th strings to D# which would lower the 9th string to C#. I personally tune my 9th string to C#.
Also if you need a form of the notorious "BooWah" pedal you can lower the 12th string E to C# on the same lever that raises your 4th and 8th strings to F....JH in Va.
