If I wanted to buy aluminum tube for making legs, what should I get? The O.D. of the legs on my guitars are 7/8 but what about the inner diameter?

My Sierra had rectangular tube legs about 1"x3/4" but I don't have one to measure anymore. Could someone measure that for me?

Also, what about the threaded inserts? Where would you find those? I suppose you could just thread the ends of the legs but an insert seems much better to me.

Also, where would you get the microphone stand kind of tighteners that are usually on pedal steel legs?

And finally, I can get microphone stands for about $13 each. Why not buy 4 of them and 4 threaded inserts to make pedal steel legs?

Is there any particular kind of mic stand I should should look for? Musician's Friend has a 10 pack of boom stands for $100 right now. They're back ordered for 2-4 weeks according to the site but that seems like a pretty good deal. I could even sell the booms for about $5 each and get the stands for $5 each. MF's retail price for the 10-pack is $699.90. Seems like a pretty good deal to me. What do you think?

I paid $120 for 4 legs including shipping.
so when u add the inserts and rubber ends to the
mic stands you still got a low priced and top
quality leg. Figure out your length before you
start cutting.
Sounds like a good pricing to me.
Mic legs are chrome and the straight aluminum legs
( like a carter-starter )
are not shiny unless you polish them.

I think these are painted black but that wouldn't matter much.
