Looks like the kind of steel Charles Bronson would play if he was a steel player. This thing looks tough. I bet it would make some other steels blush or look the other way. Tone schmone......this steel has fear factor. The case is cool too......pretty soon someone will be relic-ing cases and this one will sell on its own for hundreds of dollars.

I just can't believe the lucky winner will be getting the green neck AND the Vise Grips included in the deal for the one low, low auction price!
I've always heard that green neck guitars have a lot of really, really fast notes in them! I just hope the "Big E" doesn't see this and try to out bid me on it.

Funny thing about this steel, I was in this pawn shop in Bloomington a couple weeks ago, and they had a $500. price tag on it. I couldn't find a brand name on it any where, and I almost offered $100. just for parts, but then I changed my mind. I didn't realize it was a lap steel, it looked way too big and awkward for my lap.

It could also be a pedal steel from Mad Max or something. It has an apocalyptic quality to it. Kind of freaks me out. I can't stop looking at it. How does a steel that's seemingly useless display such wear and tear in the first place?

It is really odd that steel players like their instruments to look as new and unplayed as possible, and guitarists pride themselves on playing used or new instruments that look like gator chaw. What Duane Marrs or Ricky Davis do to restore and refurbish old ShoBuds would instantly halve, even quarter the value of an old Les Paul or Stratocaster - so who's nuttier?  |
