A machinest friend of mine (Marshall Neely of Wildwood Georgia) has started making double bullet bars from stainless steel in the following sizes:

3/4" or 7/8" $39.95

1" or 1 1/16 $45.95

You can contact him at his email address:

rmneely52@yahoo.com

He has sold several on ebay and will send a donation for any sold through the forum. He has made one for me. It is so easy to hold and has unbelievable sustain.

Is this bar hard enough that it does not have to be buffed after using it. I bought one that is quite soft that I got from Scotty and it has to be buffed quite a lot.
Thanks

Yes David, Marshall uses a very high grade of stainless steel and mine has never had to be buffed since I got it.

Marshall uses 316 grade stainless steel for his bars.
These bars never need to be buffed again.

Marshall just gave me a brass bar to try out. It is 7/8" by 3 1/4 It is very heavy - he used naval brass. It plays very well with great sustain. I will let you know how it stands up to stainless steel strings.

Here's the latest on the brass bar. After an hour's playing it was very scratched. I had Marshall re polish it and had it chrome plated. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!! it is small 7/8's by 3 1/4; it is very heavy and just glides now with its chrome finish. I intend to use it and punish it for a month and see how it stands up. I will keep you posted at Jan 31 2008

These are especially good for old codgers with arthritic hands that have trouble holding onto round ones. I liked my first one so good that I got two more.

I made several 316 stainless steel bars of different sizes almost 30 years ago and have Never had to polish them. They were my "goverment" projects I made during my break at work. You can't beat 316 stainless for durability that I have found and the price for material was very appealing!!
