Here's a very nicely played, very mellow Slack Key and Resonator tune from Chris Kennison.

Thank's Chris, beautiful job!

Hi Chris,
Nice playing. The tune has a lovely vibe. What kind of guitars are you using?

hi Chuck,
Thanks!

The reso is a 'Dobro' (aka newer Gibson).

The acoustic guitars: 1) is an Ibanez 'Ragtime Special' - Ibanez made them for a short time back when the Ragtime Fingerstyle (aka "Classic American Fingerstyle Guitar") craze was peaking in the 80's. A nice fingerpicking guitar. 2) 1942 Martin 0-18 - another great fingerpicking axe! I used standard tuning on the Ibanez, and Taro Patch on the Martin.

Chris,

You did a very fine job on Isa Lei.

Did you know that Isa Lei is the national farewell song of Fiji?

Two years ago I was going to take a trip to Fiji to do some professional seminars. It was then I found out about the Fijian history of Isa Lei. I started practicing the song to play it there. Unfortunately I did not make it to Fiji, because I had a detached retina a month earlier and was under doctor's orders to cancel the trip.

Aloha, Smile
Don

thanks guys,

Don, I didn't know the history of the song - very cool. The melody is sad, and beautiful at the same time. I've always liked it.
