Does anyone know what CD of Merl's that has (you don't have very far to Go) on it. I bought a Cassette at a truck stop in Wyoming several years ago. It was called Big City. I have looked on all his CDs, including Big City and can't find it. I have wore the tape out and would love to find another. Thanks for any help.

It is definitely on Big City. Title: You Don't Have Very Far To Go

I believe he also recorded it on an album in the '60s but I can't remember which one.

Thanks Jon, there must have been two Big City's.
I have looked at everything he has out and can't find it. Think I'll check E.T Record shop.

The original version is on his very first Capitol album from 1965 title "Strangers" which at one point at least was available on CD.. The he recut it on "Big City". Sometimes labels reissue budget versions of CDs to sell in truckstops and drugstores etc. with fewer songs than the original, that might be the case with the copies of "Big City" you've seen.

I think that I remember the album cover.
Meryl is lying on a bed in a dingy hotel room with a guitar along side him and wearing the ugliest pair of cowboy boot I've ever seen! Whoa!

and I cannot find it anywhere except
ET record shop on a 5 cd albums and it is
$129 which is too many songs to buy for just
1.

The version from the 1981 Big City lp is, IMO, the best version Merle recorded of this song. Norm shines on this version as opposed to little or no steel on other versions Merle did.
