The 9th annual GSGA show is coming up on the 4th and 5th of May here in Indianapolis. We have some great pickers coming this year including John Hughey, Junior Knight, Johnny and Joan Cox, David Spires, Lonnie(Big Ben)Bennett along with many others. David Spires will be presenting a workshop on Friday during the day from 10:00a to 5:00p.
We have a great back up band that includes Jenee Keener, Chuck Spires, Leonard Zinn as well as others.
You can visit our web site for more info which is: www.gospelsteel.com.
Come and be with us. The rooms at the Best Western are going fast. If you are coming you need to make a room reservation now. You can call them at 317-299-8400 and ask for group sales. Make sure you tell them that you are with the gospel steel group for a room rate of $61.00 that will allow up to 4 people per room.

Just a reminder that the rooms at the Best Western will be probably be gone within a week. Things are really shaping up for the workshop. David is providing a CD and tab, to be used for practicing, as well as a lot of info to be covered in the 6 hour of instruction.

Hi Jack
Leonard wanted me to tell you that you are in his prayers, regarding your health. We hope we are in yours, as the hands of time keep doing a number on all of us.
Leonard and I are going to Hawaii for the show there and he has plans to be picked up at the airport in Grand Rapids upon our return,, and almost at once, take off for Dougs show in Indiana. So he will see you there. And I'm sure he will get you back for that comment about being there to throw the light switch at the beginning of time. HA Take care, Evelyn

Hi Everyone,

I am certainly looking forward to the Gospel Steel Convention this year. I must say that I am looking forward to the seminar. It is so much fun working with other players. If any of you would like to know a little more about what I have in mind, you can e-mail me, or check www.davidspires.com under "Concert Dates & News".

Doug, I would like to thank you again for the opportunity.

(As for Jack Heern, the seminar would be double the normal price... I hope you are doing well, and I'll be glad to see you - even if I don't admit it. :-)

Thanks,

David Spires

Doug,
Good Luck with this years show in INDY. You should consider one of our young new players "Robert Rogers". He's an NTSGA member and would be worth looking at to play next year. Robert is showing much promise and he plays great gospel Steel Guitar. Also, we're featuring the "Gospel Steel Guitar Showcase" every Saturday here on WEKT Radio. Nick

JUST 3 WEEKS AWAY NOW. Come and be with us for a great show and a wonderful spirit. Absolutely fabulous players like Junior Knight, John Hughey, Johnny Cox, Joan Cox, David Spires, Lonnie (Big Ben) Bennett along with many of our regulars will be here. No smoking in the concert hall and the music is not too loud. We work hard to make the atmosphere as pleasing as possible. Give a try, you won't be disappointed. Why not register for David Spires workshop also. There will be a lot presented in the 6 hours that he will be giving the workshop. Come and enjoy it.

Just got word from Johnny Cox that he and Joan will not be able to make the GSGA show this weekend. Connie Smith was scheduled at the last minute for the Opry this weekend, and Johnny will need to be there. We will miss them, but understand the situation. Hopefully we can have them come and be with us at a later show. God Bless you Johnny and Joan. We still have a fabulous lineup and are looking forward with great anticipation to Friday and Saturday. Come and be with us.

Well tomorrow May 4th is the big day. Folks are already arriving, David's workshop begins at 10:00a in the morning and the show gets underway at 7:00p tomorrow evening. I can't wait. Several people have helped with setting up for the last two days and we will finish in the morning, hopefully. It's a lot work but well worth it. Come and experience Gospel Steel at it's finest.

Doug, I want to thank you for inviting Johnny and I to be on the show this year. We are very sorry that we are not going to be able to make it this year. We so much looked forward to it. Thank you for understanding that the Opry thing came up suddenly, and that Johnny has to be there for that. I pray that you have a great show this year, and we sure hope you keep us in mind for next year. God Bless You Too!!

Doug, I too want to thank you for letting me be a part of your very special show. I waited until the last possible time hoping I might be recovered enough from the heart surgery to make it this year. I am doing very well but I feel I should not push it by trying to make the trip this year. My rehab starts this Tuesday. I will be looking forward to playing your show next year and many years after that. Thanks again for including me in what I believe to be the greatest steel show going. I know you will have a tremendous show this year and I wish I could be there.
