Cathi Parson from the newly-formed So Cal Western Swing Society reports their 2nd dance/jam was a big hit, with Texas Playboys Glynn Duncan and Johnny Cuviello on stage at Montana's in San Dimas. The Chapped Cheeks with Mike Small on pedal steel played about 1 1/2 hrs. of everyone's favorite tunes and the dancers loved it! The 2 hr. jam pulled in lots of local talent including Kevin Banford of the Bakersfield Boys. But the roof was absolutely blown off the house when Johnny Cuviello played his drum solo "The Texas Drummer Boy". Johnny is scheduled to attend the next SCWSMS dance on June 10, so contact Cathi and sign up to play Western Swing on stage with the real deal…or come out to dance! She is taking applications for bands to perform: wswing4ever@aol.com

It's a fun and heartwarming play, Gene, and I hope I can get up there again to see it. (Performance schedule is on Gene's website.) Say Howdy to "Bob Wills" aka Tim Gilliam for me!

It was a great pleasure to play steel guitar behind the Texas Drummer Boy. Johnny C.
Also to back the great MC and front man/vocalist Tom Thompson once again.
Cathi did a great job getting the Western Swing group together one more time.

You were all terrific. Thanks to everyone who came from near and far, especially (Larry P. and Michael J.) to support us once again. If it hadn't been for Larry P. Johhny C. wouldn't have had his solo. If it hadn't been for Michael J. we wouldn't have had a Bass. Tommy Thomsen led a great jam once again. Lookin forward to seein you all again..and again. Cathi P.
