I won't be playing...but I should be in Wichita. Perhaps we can hangout.

I'll look around & see if there's anyone playing around that time. I'll keep you posted.

Last year Sam's started playing at 10:00pm even on the Sunday jam.

There used to be dozens of places in Wichita that had bands back in the 70's and 80's.
I know that was 20 to 30 years ago since I played there but.................surely Sam's isn't the only place left to play in Wichita.
If so.... someone get a bulding and get some guys together and lets have a good old fashion dance...

Is Greg Stevens still around with the Wichita Lineman Band?
There was a place down south on Broadway near Haysville where they played.
Hot Coffee Band & my old buddy Winston Blair on Bass

Jeff Pickering used to play steel around there back in the 70's & 80's......
He cut some recordings of songs I wrote with Tom Hedrick at John Miller's studio in Newton, Kansas

I know Bobby Bales, my old bass player, is at Sam's.

What about Terry Crane and the Blue Diamonds?

I know the Wagonwheel closed down after Marge and Gene Died. That was my hangout for years...

I have played most every American Legion, VFW, Elks, Moose and bar around there.

We also used to drive to Ark City and play a really nice place called Joe's Country Club.

We also used to go somwhere in Oklahoma to a place that I think was The Blue Ballroom??? Huge place!!!!Too Too many years ago

We Played the Derby American Legion for a lot of Christmas and New Years Eve Parties.

Man talk about turning back the clock.......
I forgot how young I was back then....

I'll shut up now!!!! HA! HA!

Greg Stevens is in Portland last I heard. Winston Blair is in Branson. I played with him at that club on south Broadway when it was Sams place. Before it was Sams it was the Saddle boogie Saloon and before that Ruby Tuesdays. We moved there after Dillons tore down the old HI HO club/Western swinger. Last I heard one of my best buddies Ken Potter was playing bass for Sam along with Al Reynolds on guitar. I worked for Sam for four years before he shut the old Sams down. My Uncle Bobby Henderson plays around there with a little old country/western swing group but I can't remember their bands name. Not as much as their used to be in Cowtown. Went to blues and jazz. I grew up listening to Jerry Sisk, Jimmy Powell, and many other great pickers. Have fun n Doo Dah!

Hey, thought I would post here. This is to close to home!!! I actually played last Saturday night with Terry Crain at Valley Center HS for a dance. As far as Greg Stevens, I played Steel for the Linemen from about 1989 to 2003 That was the linemens last gig. Greg was actually flying in from Olympia Wash to finish up our schedule. Carl Hendricks passed away in May of 95 and the band actually stayed together a lot longer than expected or I thought they would. Lots of really good gigs and memories there. Jimmy of course passed away in the early 90's and about 2 weeks ago I ran into Jerry at Wal-Mart. He is playing in OKC at friends club and visits Wichita to see his mom when he can. He had a liver transplant about 13 yrs ago...right after the liver transplant Jerry was working with the linemen and was actually having some slight bleeding from the stitches on his stomach..Oh My Gosh , I'll never forget crazy Carl, right in the middle of the gig taking some Duct Tape and patching his stomach up Right after a LIVER TRANSPLANT!!!
It worked!!! This was at the Cotillion for some dance. There isn't a day that goes by I don't miss Carl Hendricks.. Anyway, I'm off for Thanksgiving weekend but could possibly show up at a jam on Sunday in South Wichita...If your still in town, I could show up there.

Hey Kurt
Good Time Huh?
How is Terry Crane ??
I left Wichita June of 1987 to come to Dallas and hardly ever looked back other than to say hi to some old friends.... Great picture of you guys. Wasn't it the Western Swinger Club where Greg played for so long..
Hey sorry, I am leaving for Dallas on Sunday. Are you playin Saturday night? I would love to meet up with you guys for a beer or whatever you drink on Saturday sometime.......
Maybe we could grab the wifes and go somewhere and have some fun?
Maybe they would let us sit in and play somewhere.
Let me know I think it would be a blast.

Hey Kurt I have your email I will email you my cell phone when I get there so we can catch up.
