I'm sad to hear that. A legendary musician and a real nice man.
Thanks Mike.

Our local radio station announced the passing, and didn't even have the courtesy to play one damn song by Hank.

One of my childhood heroes, that I got to play with some 20 years ago in a pickup band he used in Vegas.

Rest In Peace

If I stopped long to really think about all the great ones who have left us recently, I'd get very depressed. But it does make me think seriously about how it's possible to help carry on this great music.

Hank was truly one of the greats of any style. Live at the Golden Nugget is, to me, one of the greatest live records ever made, again style notwithstanding. He also gets, to my taste, the Lou Gehrig award for longevity and stamina in the country and western music biz - what a great life and career.

Rest in peace.

wow. first Porter and now Hank. I hope this doesn't come in 3's... country music can't afford another loss of this magnitude.

Hank was such a great entertainer. I believe he had a record on the charts in more decades than possibly any other country artist. And a major proponent of the steel guitar. God bless him.

this is a classic:

nice shot:

He was one of the 1st singers that I took as a hero when I was a kid. I guess I seen him at least 20 or more times in the last 50 years. He is one of the reason I learned to play the C6th , what a wonderful man he was to bring us all that music, an to feature the steel guitar the way he did. I will still have all his music to remember him, an that is a good thing. Thanks Hank for you did.

"two Bigsbys and not a pedal between 'em! Who are these guys?"

Erh, that would be yours truly and Jeremy Wakefield ( white shirt ), that show was at the Oneida Casino's ( in Greenbay, WI )Rockin 50's II fest two years ago. When I asked Hank if it would be ok to have two Bigsbys on stage his reply was "hell yeah, that would look great". It turned out to be a really fun night. Majority of the audience was younger generation rockabilly fans from all over the world, for lot of them it was the first time ever to see Hank Thompson on stage. Needless to say, I'll never forget it either.
