About a week after I got my new steel and a lot of playing, all the ball sockets started to squeak.
Once I adjusted them all to be as centered on the ball as possible, and put a drop of Tri FLow on the balls and slides of the sockets, it was all good.
I have never worn one out. _________________ Bo Borland

I had one fail one night, two bars into the first song of the first set.

It would be hard to imagine one "wearing out". To support that, I submit the following: I played the same guitar for 29 years, probably close to 10,000 gigs. Both the ball-studs and the sockets show very little wear (and I still have the guitar). Of course, I did oil them every few years!
I suspect it makes a big difference if you don't wait until something happens to do some maintenance. |

Never wore one out, but I saw several broken ones on the Sierra Artist S-10's, those little buggers seemed to have a nack for breaking them off, & they are so much fun to replace!!
