If you have played both the previous Carter guitars and a new Carter do you feel the difference between the previous pedal bar and the new one?
Thank you;

I'm familiar with both of the pedal bars that Carter has used. The original was a "C" channel that was used (and still is on some brands)by all of the major manufacturers. There are brackets inside of the "C" for the pedals to be mounted to. The new pedal bar has a circular opening extruded through the entire length of the pedal bar. The pedals are mounted buy sliding the the rounded end of the pedal into this opening. They are spaced by using hard plastic (not the technical name for the material!)spacers between the pedals. This mounting tecnique allows the pedals to operate much smoother, and the extra stiffness of the extruded pedal bar eliminates any flex that might cause detuning due to giving a pedal a little extra "oomph". It's quite an improvement.

I assume the Carter and Magnum pedal bars are the same. I play a Magnum D10 and the pedal bar is extremely heavy built and has no "flex" whatsoever. This is a Bud Carter type design which is about the same as he used on the EMCI. It is a very good design.

I'm no engineer, but I would think that a little bit of flex in the pedal bar would help prevent detuning for those who are a bit "heavy footed" on the pedals. I would prefer to have the pedal bar flex over having the body flex. It would be sort of a shock absorber. |

I've played the old one and the new one. I like the new one best but the original bar, as everything else CARTER builds is first class also. They build fine guitars. |
