Did some of the older push pull pedals have two different sizes other than the legrande style. |

The older push pulls had wide cast pedals... somewhere around '75 or '76 they went to narrower cast pedals, the last push pulls had the Legrande style pedals. There were 2 different different pedal spacings on the guitars with the wide cast pedals. I think that wide pedals with wide spacing went out in '70... give or take. |

I am guessing that it was for a period in 1972 that Emmons made transitional guitars with wide pedals and narrower spacing -- nine pedals could fit where eight did before.
Also in the 70s Emmons made narrow pedals with a shorter length, probably for single width bodies, although these shorter pedals may be seen on some doubles.
Bobbe, what do you have on that early 70s workhorse Emmons of yours? Wide pedals with narrow spacing? Narrow with apron bushings for ten? Wide with room for nine? Come to think of it, don't you have just seven pedals loaded on that guitar? |

I believe if you custom ordered a p/p, the pedal spacing could be varied to accomidate the number of pedals you were wanting.
I have a p/p that was custom ordered by Doug Jernigan and it has 11 foot pedals on it. If the spaciang wasn't narrowed up, there would be NO way they could get that many pedals under that guitar. |

Erv:
you are right, my ten pedal guitar had the closer spacing. Also I think the cross shafts might have been spaced differently too. I will turn it over and check that.. |

Willis,
Yes, the cross shafts would have to be closser together also to line up with the footpedals. |

I am not too familiar with narrow spaced Emmons pedal set ups, but as I recall standard issue D-10s came with bushings in the apron for ten pedals with eight commonly used.
Erv, so would your pedals have been eleven percent closer together, or ten percent?

Chris,
I just got through doing some measuring.
On the old style, wide p/p pedals, they are spaced 2 3/4" apart.
On the later style p/p's with the LeGrande style pedals, they are 2 3/8" apart.
On Doug Jernigan's old guitar with the 11 foot pedals, they are 2 3/16" apart.
PS: There are extra holes and bushings in the cabinet towards the changer but if you put more than 8 foot pedals on an Emmons p/p you start running into problems with cross shafts for knee levers, the return springs mounting bracket and etc. |

Erv:
My ten pedal guitar had a heavy jack shaft arrangement to eliminate the need for a cross shaft on one of the knees, I believe it was on the LKL.
I am in Huston at the moment but when I get home I will check the D-10 Emmons Black Rock, I think it has something unusual under there also. |

Willis,
A lot of times on the p/p's, the knee levers are mounted to cross shafts that are mounted to angle brackets and aren't secured in the cabinet sides. |
