I've been lurking without registering for several months and just registered the other evening.

I'm a budding young (well, scratch the young part) dobro player. In addition, I acquired a Mexican Stratocaster about a month ago and just ordered a "redneck" squareneck from Loni Specter at LapDancerGuitars.com to mate up to the Strat so I can play the Strat lap-style. I guess that qualifies me for the forum.

I'm not up on any of the tunings besides the dobro open G tuning. I can only handle so many things at once. I am really looking forward to putting the lap-Strat together and getting going.

I've had a good time going through some of the recent threads. Todd Clinesmith's PA replica's were just flat-out gorgeous. Alan Brookes restoration of the Fender was terrific. Howard's unique resophonica is just flat out of this world. I especially loved the semantic extravaganza of trying to categorize a particular genre of steel guitar music. BasilH took an awful lot of heat but took it well. I was impressed (I almost said psuedo-impressed). Actually I guess it was the "hot" jazz category that made me think. Is that what they play on the Rickenbacher Fry Pan? (Ohhhhhhhh, no, he really didn't just say that did he?)

At any rate, I'm looking forward to "meeting" several of you all in the coming months and seeing what I can learn along the way with my dobro and lap-strat.

Thanks, it's been great already.
