Just called the hotel and they told me that the special rate ran out on Oct 19 and that the reserved block of rooms is sold out. The only rooms they're booking now are at $109 instead of $80. Any chance you can persuade them to free up more rooms at the lower rate, Bob?

Jim, I will check into it first thing. Our contract says Oct. 31. It seems that the Front Desk doesn't communicate with the sales dept. We've blocked 120 rooms and 96 were booked last week.

I have contacted the Doubletree Hotel regarding the problem. They have assured me that the $80.00 PSGA rate will be honored and that rooms are still available for our group.

PSGA reservations made at the $109.00 rate will be lowered to the $80.00 rate and all reservations made over the weekend up until the 31st will receive the lower rate.

So, make your reservations by the 31st of October. Phone:1-203-853-3477.

Thanks folks, for the messages. It is going to be a wonderful event!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, we keep getting numerous inquiries from name steel players wishing to participate at our annual steel event. We keep adding to our list of potential players for next year as well as distributors and manufacturers whom we have not heard from until now. Please note that we have a full quorum for this year's show.

I believe we can say at this point in time that we are definitely going forward at a faster rate than normal. It only took 34 years, but who is counting?

What?? That can't be! How can the show go on without our illustrious Emcee?! All I can say is, you'd better have a darn good reason!

Who else is gonna explain to the audience the pedigree of every song on the program? Aaaauuughhh!

Jim,

Unfortunately, I will miss your set and all of the others dealing with family health problems in Texas. But as they used to say in baseball, "Wait 'til next year," amigo!

Yes, it is a fact. Mike Gross will not be with us to MC our show. Mike has been a key member of the PSGA for over 25 years and has added so much to our annual events.

Family comes first. We wish Mike and Susan, and their daughter Jen, her spouse, as well as the grand kids, all the best in the present situation. They are in our daily prayers.

Mike, we love ya and hope all turns out well.

Jeff, Darlene, (maybe Bruce Chappelle) and myself, will do what we can to keep things on track. But we ain't Mike Gross!!!

Thanks Don! Perhaps next year?

BTW the Doubletree Hotel is still accepting sleeping room reservations, but at the higher rate, since the PSGA block of rooms is no longer available at the reduced rate.

Hey Ben good for you! You are playing not too far from where "Fooch" lives (Woodstock) and a stones throw away from John and Darlene's summer digs near Margaretville. That whole area is country music territory, what with Larry Jameison and Roy Sawyer and many other steel players/PSGA members in Delaware County, NY.

Of course for the most part they all will be with us this weekend for our 34th annual PSGA Show in Norwalk, CT.

Glad you will be with us on Sunday Ben. C U then!
