I saw 2 Fender psgs on E-bay. One is a Fender 400 the other is a Fender 800. The S-10 Fender 800 has a non-stock P/U.?? Any ideas on the make of the P/U?
Has anyone swapped P/Us on these older Fender guitars? If so what were the results?
They are listed as Item number:140173587290

No doubt some players installed other pickups to get a little fuller sound, or to get away from the "single-coil noise" problem. Even my old 1000 had Sho~Bud pickups installed on it. But too make a long story short, I never heard a cable Fender that didn't sound like a cable Fender.
If you have a noise problem, you could install a humbucker. I don't feel other pickup swaps will produce really significant changes, as long as you're using a good amp.
One of the guitars pictured has a pickguard that Fender never used, so you don't know what that's hiding. Also, it has no pedal rods, and that's a lot bigger problem than any pickup! |

Yeah, if the seller does not have the rods for that 800 the buyer will be in for a nasty surprise; those are almost impossible to find - someody would have to fabricate the pedal connectors. $ouch$ _________________ No chops, but great tone
