I have a '60 Supro ( a "Comet" I beleive, though I'm sure the more knowledgable amongst you can correct me in that regard...)
..anyway it had the scrourge of later Valco instruments, that is the dreaded "magnet & wooden dummy" assembly on the pickup.
I contacted our resident magnetologist (or is it magnetician?.. you know who you are ) to provide me with replacement Nibro magnets. His service was courteous, thoughtful, patient, and prompt.
I've had a few days to play with the new mags through a variety of amps and I can say they are a huge improvement over the original. The tone is fuller, the strings are much more touch sensitive, and the instrument seems to sustain forever (everevereverever... ).
Anyway, thanks to Rick Aiello for all his help! _________________ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Richard-I'm not sure of the model name for your guitar-I see that there is one on GBASE and the seller is incorrectly calling it a "Comet"-It is NOT the "Comet" model-The Comet is symmetrical wedge shaped and I have seen it in various appointments with numerous maker names-sometimes pearloid covered sometimes not-If you see the Supro double neck it looks like two Comets joined together-I have owned the same one as yours in six and eight strings with legs-It is a better model than the Comet-which is probably the cheapest model next to the very short scale "Airline" model |

Paul & Rick W., thanks for the correction. I also have one of the "student" models which I beleive resembles the comet in appearance..
..which I acquired as a husk and loaded with a Vintage Vibe CC Rider pickup. (Sorry to offend the purists, but it's the axe that got me into steel in the first place) _________________ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
