Hey all I've got a new Williams coming & am considering which pickups to put in it. I'm planning to go with humbuckers. I love single-coils but I'm aiming for less twang (and hum) and more meat this time. My experience with Williams in the past is that they're pretty bright. I've ordered mine with wood necks to hopefully warm it up some (also I love how they look.) It will be a keyless crossover as well.

The pickups I am mainly thinking about are the LXR-16, George L SS (or maybe Eon), and Tonealigner. Does anyone have any experience with any of these on a Williams? Like I say I think the guitar will bring plenty of brightness and separation so I want a pickup that will sweeten & fatten it up.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Paul, I have an Eon pickup in my Carter. I really like the pickup but it is as bright as an E 66. The only diference is: the Eon uses an iron blade as opposed to the stainless blade the wire is wound around in the E 66. [ according to the George L folks ] With my Nash. 112 I have to back the highs off to -6. Before the Eon, I was using a L XR-16 that worked well in the Carter also. However, I find the George L is smoother. I'm sure others will have different thoughts. George

I have Jerry Wallace TruTones on my Williams.

Bill has worked very closely with Jerry when it comes to pickups for his guitars.

I took the stock pickups off and put in 10-1's. I prefer a more melow tone.

Paul, another pickup to consider is the BL910 - I have one on the E9th neck of one of my Zums and it is a very good pickup, a little less edgie than the 710's which I have on the the C6th neck, and both necks of my other Zum.

Mine is a D-12. I have a Lawrence 712 in front and a George L's 12-1 in back. I'm very happy with the tone.

I also have a tone control to back off the highs on the front neck. That gives me a bit of variety.
