I have been told that the plan is to give these great players 45 mins each and then finish the day with a jam of all them together.

I do not know of another show where you could get 45 mins each plus a group jam, which features such "monsters" of the steel guitar. Even at the "Grand Daddy" of all steel shows, the most they get is 30 mins.

Only $10 at the door, folks!

Spoke briefly with Johnny Cox last night at the George Edwards Benefit and they are bringing the bass player and drummer from his Time Jumpers band! I forgot their names, but they are tough. The bass player plays an upright.

Don't miss this one!!!

Let's see. 10 bucks at the door, $500 for air fare, and another hundred for food and lodging- Thanks Frank, but I'm gonna have to skip this one

I really do wish we had shows like this in Southern California. You guys who live near where all the action is are so lucky.

I admit it. I'm jealous.

Just got home from the Jugtown steel guitar club jam in Birmingham, what an afternoon.
Doug Jernigan, Joan Cox, John Hughey, Johnny Cox and Herby Wallace.
The Drummer and Bass player that plays with Johnny in the time jumpers band and some other musicians provided the back up and I must say they did an outstanding job. The sound was just right.
Thanks to the Jugtown club for an outstanding
afternoon and to Johnny, Joan, John, Doug and Herby for the best Steel picking you would ever want to hear.
Also Rob Parker was there and sang a few numbers, A couple of the club members sang also, sorry I dont remember their names.

Jimmy I agree 100% with you. That was a good show. You could hear every note. I hope the turn out was good enough for Frank to have another soon.

Our good friend, Pete Harris, organized this. I was only trying to help promote it. We had over 100 people and the club dues paid for most of it. I would expect that there will be another one in the near future.

Pete mentioned maybe trying to get Tommy White and Mike Johnson in the future. I do not know what other players he has in mind.

The Time Jumpers' bass player and drummer really helped to make it a very successful show.

Frank,
I attended the Jugtown Steel Guitar Show in
Gardendale. What a deal!! Anybody who enjoys
steel guitar music missed a heck of a show.
Darn it, I got there a little late and missed
most of Doug's opener. If his jam performance
is any indication then he must have put on quite an exibition. Any body record it? Video
would be wonderful but an audio would be swell also. As I stated in another post a few weeks back I have been living out of the country several years and now find myself out
of the loop. Heard several familiar names
mentioned Sunday but two old timers who once
called Florence,AL home, Ted Crabtree and Bill Hamner were the only guys there I really remembered.Guess it will take some serious mingling to get familiar with the
rest of you guys. I really did enjoy the fellowship and friendly atmosphere. Yeah,I
do plan to make the Chattanooga show. It will take something pretty heavy to keep me
away. Hope to most of those present at Gardendale can make that show. Bill told me he hadn't played in several years but hoped to give it another try since he has retired. Any body else outthere who got the urge to
take up the steel after a long layoff. Somebody better get some of these youngsters interested enough to carry on.
Before I forget let me congratulate Rich Archer on a fine performance. Boy, He slipped right in there didn't he? Brenda did
a fine job too! Time to let someone else get on the soap box! Thanks guys and gals, Kip
