Our pal Chuck Lettes couldn't make it to HSGA Joliet 2007 last week. But here's a tune he recorded in leiu of his personal appearance. Thanks Chuck. Nice version.

Remarkably, I did not hear this tune once during the convention. This tune is usually played a few times.

Nice job on that tune. It sounds like he uses a volume pedal, sort of like in the Jerry Byrd way.

Thanks for the kind words. I was watching a DVD of Jerry Byrd, and he mentioned that Beyond the Reef is a "tourist song," that he renamed Beyond Relief. I can see why it is a popular tune, such a nice melody. You're right, Bill; I'm using a volume pedal.

Hi Chuck,

Pretty! Particularly liked your ending and some of the incidental chords you sneaked in!

Maybe time for another collaboration? I had also recorded this a little while ago and it is on the HSGA website. Unfortunately, it cuts out early, must have been a bad file transmission. If you think it is a good idea I could send you the file. By the way, the backing track is by none other than Gerald Ross.

If Beyond Relief, we could work on another. I have a few in the pipeline...

Missed you at Joliet!

Kay
