Hello Music Lovers –

This Friday, October 19th, the Texas Swing Kings are hosting Johnny Cuviello’s 92nd Birthday Bash at Patsy’s Cowgirl Café, 8-11pm.

Johnny, aka the Texas Drummer Boy, played with Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys in the late 1940’s and he’s still swinging. Joining Johnny and the Texas Swing Kings is a phenomenal line-up of fantastic players including another Texas Playboy, the great Herb Remington on steel guitar, Floyd Domino, Rick McRae, Billy Mata, Bert Rivera, Maryann Price, Danny Levin, Road Moag, Billy Curtis, and many more wonderful surprise guests. There’ll be a $5 suggested donation at the door.

Patsy’s has great food and atmosphere, friendly people and a nice dance floor. Directions below.

We hope you can make it out to this special show. Get there early, so you can get a seat.

Keep swingin’

The Texas Swing Kings

Gary, Gary, Mike, Bob and Howard

PS – Don’t forget about the Cornell Hurd Band every Thursday at Jovita's. The new CD, Beyond the Purple Hills, is on top of the charts.

Thanks for helping to keep this burg the Live Music Capitol of the World

How to get to Patsy’s: From I-35, take Ben White east and exit Montopolis. Get in the right lane, look for the Catfish Parlour, and Patsy’s is about 100 yards east of that place on the access road — you’ll want to turn right on Chapman and make an immediate left into the restaurant’s parking lot. It has a big McKinney Falls water tower and a playscape.

Thanks for posting this Ted. Dang, that was a fun show. Herb Remington and Bert Rivera both tearing it up on some great old tunes. Twin steels even. Not something you get to hear too often. The crowd sure had a good time. Quite an array of talent.

Post some pictures if you got some good ones.

Howard,

It was a great time and show. I'll post some pics in the next day or two. ...not sure how many good ones of you there may be, as the crowd was so big I couldn't get over to that side of the stage much.

Thanks Howard,

My pleasure. I've never posted pics here on the Forum before, but it was pretty easy. It was a fun night with lots of good music and dancing! I hope folks in Austin will continue to support this new venue, Patsy's Cowgirl Cafe, as they have a good thing goin' there, and they're supporting good music.

If folks haven't been to Patsy's yet, you need to go check it out real soon!

Ted
