I just got this Dekley SD-12 3+4 plus volume pedal and bar tonight from my local Craig's List for $250.00 no case,I wonder how many they made with a pad...The guy that I got it from has 4 more pedals, and a vertical knee kit that he's going to give me when he digs it out of his garage.Right now it's an extended E9th,not sure what to tune the two lowest strings to,and what pedals should work those two...open to suggestions.

I have one in red just like it. When I bought it in 1985 it too was an extended E-9th. I added the 4 floor pedals and converted it to a universal. I have often thought many times of adding a LKV but haven't done it yet. It has one draw back in that it is heavy, but stays in tune as well as any steel on the market today and has a great tone. I can't imagine getting one for $250.00. Are there any more for sale like that? I would be interested. I also am curious as to how many of the sd-12's are out there.

I have one like it also.
My SD12 is dark wood with a metal back. 5&5
I got it through my friend Pete Grant. It's set up Ext. E9....I've been toying with the idea of Uni....but haven't changed it yet.

Great deal Stu!! I'm trying out Buddy's old tuning (after 34 years of std universal) whereby the E-Eb lever also lowers std E9th string #'s 9 and 10 1 1/2 steps (D-B and B-G#) with the last 2 strings being E and B putting me right back to the std universal setup when the E's are lowered. Pretty cool thing- gotta kinda work at making the lever easy as it's now lowering 4 strings but the D string is now back and, w/o the lever in, it's an extended E9.
PS- I spoke to Greg Leisz yesterday and he was talking about his upcoming road trip with Bill Frissel- the last date being in Anchorage- and I told him that you were up there and had posted about the gig- he said he'd be looking for you!!

Jim,I've got the last two strings E and B I have to switch two knee levers,Then I'll see if I have the brains to try the Buddy changes that you have? When I called about the Dekley they told me I should come over right now"Last night 11:00pm" because three other people were coming today to look at it,He had about 10 weird electric guitars that he had built.I'm looking forward to seeing Greg Leisz it'd been about twenty years since we've seen each other...what a nice guy.

Stu, you sly picker you. What a great find. Congrats. And that price is incredible for a Dekley. Enjoy it in good health, my friend.

Mike,Thanks...I was a little nervous about showing up at someone's house at eleven at night but if I waited until the next day it would have been gone.

Stu,
My 12 string exE9, strings 11 and 12 are tuned G# and E. So from strings 12-10 you get I, III,IV and flat7, in F, thats F A C Eb. I have 8 pedals and 4 KL's, a little uncommon, but works for me. anyway pedal 3 (B pedal) raises to an A, along with str's 3 and 6. Pedal 7 drops str 11 to an F.

Delvin,Thanks for the info,My friend Greg Booth who lives up here also recommended raising the low G# with the B pedal that raises the two other G#'s to A.I'll have to wait until I get the other pedals, and vertical knee lever kit from the guy who sold me the guitar to try other things.I'll probably lower both B's to Bb with the vertical,Stu

I've got all of my knee levers switched around now to my setup and my new guitar is playing great,Thanks to my good friend and steel guitar monster Danny Keough.I was wondering what gauge strings to get for the two lowest strings,G#,&E Whoa!
