After doing some research on the old forum search pages, I believe the amp in question is an HV small cabinet built in 1980 in Texarkana. Any opinions on these amps? Serial # is 8080.

I have serial #'s 7025 and 7027, bought them both new, and stopped shopping for amps after these arrived. They have a wonderful sound, and are the only SS amp I've heard that has the warmth of a tube amp. I've had very minor issues, the one being having the solder traces on the circuit board re-touched,which I guess is common as They age. Enjoy it, you have a good one there. Regards to all.

Joe,
The LV (low voltage) model has LV printed on the front panel as part of the model, ie; "FET 500 Custom LV". At least my 1983 model does.
The Evans amps, whether HV or LV are some of the finest steel guitar amps ever built. They have excellent tonal characteristics tailored for the steel guitar.
Yours was quiet possibly built by Derrel Stephens. You can contact him here on the forum as he is a member. He can probably help you with serial numbers and the like. He has always been great about responding to my questions. Also Danny Hullihen has a nice little history of the Evans amps at this site:

Hope this helps.
Cheers!!

This one does not say LV on the front so that's how I'm assuming it's an HV. Plus by the serial # looking like it was made in 1980.
George, all I have done so far is plug it in and turn a few knobs. I did notice alot of hum in the reverb when the contol was turned up, but I'll gig with it tomorrow and see what's what.
I've checked out the Danny Hullihen article. Thanks.
I wouldn't mind finding a schematic and checking out the possiblity of installing and effects loop IN/OUT on the back panel. Can't be too difficult.??
