Go to File on the tool bar and then press Options. Next, press printing and select Fixed with measures. Change the number of measures to whatever you want or your eye can resolve.
I have many, many Tabledit files. If you want, I'll forward them to you but this is not possible throught the forum. |

Baz, click on the following (in the TE program):
File / Print Preview / Print Setup / Printing
Reduce the Proportional Note Spacing to "0" or "-1", "-2", etc.
Also try reducing the Print Scale adjustment.
Resetting the margins is another way to do it: File / Print Preview / Print Setup / Page Layout, reset the left and right margins.
4 measures wide looks best when printed, but 4 measures across is too wide for the Steel Forum margins, unless the chart is reduced (either in TE or in a photo program). But then it’s hard to read and it won’t print out properly. So 3 wide is best for the Forum IMHO.
Chord symbols are created in the Text Manager:
Edit / Text Manager / New, enter the chord name (or whatever text you want to enter). Place the cursor on the Beat where you want the chord to appear, open the Text Manager, choose the chord you want, click on Insert. You can set up Palettes for all of the editing tools, and that makes it quick and easy to access the editing functions.
edit: What Robert said. That's probably the best way to do it.

Hey Basil
I use TableEdit on a Mac, and the "Fixed width measures" command is available under Preferences/Printing. Preferences are accessed under the "TableEdit" heading on the left of the menu bar.
Also chord diagrams and how they are displayed can be specified in Preferences/Display

Thanks Gerard, most helpful, but I still need to know how to insert chord SYMBOLS (i.e.Gmaj7/B A13b9/Bb D11/A D13b5b9/Ab etc) and not have extra marks appear in the tab lines.
At the moment all I can do is use the text command to write chord symbols and that also simultaneously inserts a triangular marker in the actual tab. |

Using my 'Other' Tab program I was able to insert things as complicated as this :-
Or alternatively, as basic as this 
It doesn't look as though I can even get close with TablEdit, or if it is possible, how can I ? |

Can I hope to get anything like this from TablEdit, I'm NOT knocking the program, I've bought it on good faith and REALLY want to use it, but at the moment I feel it can't give me the results that the magazine subscribers expect from me.
Especially, how can I do this in TablEdit ?

Baz,
Below is some lap steel tab I recently did using TablEdit.
I made the images too narrow here. I thought 4 bars would be too wide for the Forum 
It is possible in TE to print the arrangement much Smaller than it appears here, and wider,
4 bars across, more text, symbols, resize tab or notation, vary the lines, spacing, etc.
TE may be resized in a number of ways.
The TE program does have a learning curve, but it's worth the effort IMHO.
For Chord Charts use Band-in-a-Box. See sample below.
