I've been searching the archives for posts about using Lawrence 710 pickups on Emmons guitars. It seems some people have trouble setting the pickup low enough for 3/16" spacing between the pickup and strings, while some seem to have succeeded. Can anyone who has succeeded in installing the 710 on a Legrande guitar, with distortion free tone as a result, please comment on this?
This might belong in the Electronics section. However, my question is more guitar specific, I don't intend to start a discussion about the pickup itself.

I did some pickup testing on my LeGrande SKH just a while ago and one of the pups were a 710 or xr16, i don't know wich. Anyway i had no problems getting it where i wanted.
Feel free to contact me for details if you like.

Fellow Swedes...
I had A L710 in my LeGrandeIII and it was not height adjustable because of the Anti de-tuning mechanism on the E9, but the height was fine as installed and I never had any problems. The pickup sounded good. (I do love single coils though).. I seem to recall that I had to drill a hole in the aluminum mounting plate for the pickup wire to pass straight through. I then mounted the PU flat onto the plate without nylon spacers (or perhaps with spacers modified for PU height....)The wire would pass through the plate without raising the pickup. PS: entertaining friends from Lulea this week...fun. Best. JW |

PS: NIC...it's much easier on a LGII because there is no anti de-tuner....JW |

I have 710's on my LeGrande II blue lacquer D10.
The bigger trick was putting 705's on the LeGrande III. I did this by removing the mounting plate and making new ones with 1/16" thick aluminum.
